The Joy of the Whole Earth: Psalm 48 and the New Jerusalem

The Mountain of God and the End Declared from the Beginning

Psalm 48 stands as one of Scripture’s luminous windows into the destiny of God’s children. It is a psalm where the earthly Zion becomes translucent, revealing the heavenly Zion behind it—the New Jerusalem, descending from God out of heaven. The psalmist sings of a city whose glory exceeds the boundaries of history, whose permanence defies the rise and fall of nations, and whose beauty anticipates the consummation of all things.

“Great is Yahweh, and greatly to be praised in the city of our God, in His holy mountain.” (Ps. 48:1)

This is not merely a celebration of ancient Jerusalem. It is a prophetic declaration of the end from the beginning. The psalmist beholds Zion not only as she was, but as she shall be—established forever, radiant with divine presence, the joy of the whole earth.

The earthly city was the shadow; the heavenly city is the substance. Psalm 48 is the Spirit’s whisper of Revelation 21 long before John saw the city descending in glory.

II. Beautiful for Elevation: The Joy of the Whole Earth

The psalmist continues: “Beautiful for elevation, the joy of the whole earth, is Mount Zion… the city of the great King” (Ps. 48:2). No earthly Jerusalem has ever been the joy of the whole earth. But New Jerusalem is described precisely this way: “The nations of them which are saved shall walk in her light” (Rev. 21:24).

Psalm 48 lifts our eyes beyond geography to eschatology [having to do with the time of the end].  Zion’s “elevation” is not merely topographical—it is spiritual, eternal, and cosmic. It is the city where God dwells with humanity, where righteousness reigns, where the Lamb is the lamp, and where the redeemed abide forever. The psalmist sees what Abraham saw: a city whose builder and maker is God.

III. God Known in Her Palaces: The Manifest Presence

Psalm 48:3 declares: “God is known in her palaces as a refuge.” This anticipates the climactic promise of Revelation: “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them.” (Rev. 21:3) In the earthly Zion, God was known through temple rituals, sacrifices, and shadows. In the New Jerusalem, God is known face‑to‑face. His presence is not mediated through priests or altars; it is immediate, radiant, and abiding.

This is the fulfillment of the abiding promise:

  • “Abide in Me, and I in you.” (John 15:4)
  • “We will come to him and make Our abode with him.” (John 14:23)

Psalm 48 sings of a city where abiding becomes permanent, unbroken, and glorified.

IV. The Kings of the Earth and the Terror of Glory

Psalm 48:4–6 describes a mysterious scene: “The kings assembled… they saw it and were troubled… fear took hold upon them.” This is not merely historical memory. It is prophetic foreshadowing.

The kings of the earth will one day behold the unveiled glory of God’s city and tremble. Revelation 6 echoes this: “The kings of the earth… hid themselves… for the great day of His wrath is come.” Psalm 48 anticipates the final confrontation between the kingdoms of this world and the kingdom of our God. Zion stands immovable; the nations tremble. The city of abiding becomes the city of judgment, where divine righteousness is revealed and human pride collapses.

V. The Ships of Tarshish and the East Wind of Judgment

Psalm 48:7: “With the east wind You break the ships of Tarshish.” Tarshish represents the farthest reaches of human commerce, strength, and ambition. The east wind symbolizes divine intervention—swift, sovereign, irresistible.

In the eschatological vision, all human systems that exalt themselves against God are shattered. The New Jerusalem is not built by human hands; it is established by divine decree. The psalmist sees the collapse of earthly power before the rising of heavenly glory.

VI. “God Will Establish Her Forever”: Eternal Zion

Psalm 48:8 proclaims: “God will establish her forever.” Earthly Jerusalem has been destroyed, rebuilt, besieged, and divided. Only the New Jerusalem fits the description of a city established forever.

Revelation 21:2: “The holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven.” Psalm 48 is not nostalgia; it is prophecy. It is the Spirit’s assurance that the dwelling place of God will one day be unshakable, eternal, and filled with His abiding presence.

VII. Walking About Zion: The Pilgrimage of the Redeemed

Psalm 48:12–13 invites: “Walk about Zion… consider her towers… tell it to the generation following.” This is not mere sightseeing. It is covenantal inheritance. In the New Jerusalem, the redeemed will walk its streets, behold its foundations, marvel at its gates, and drink from its river. They will see the architecture of salvation, the geometry of grace, the symmetry of divine wisdom. The psalmist’s invitation is eschatological: Come, behold the city prepared for the abiding ones.

VIII. “He Will Guide Us Over Death”: The Promise of Resurrection

Psalm 48 concludes: “For this is God, our God forever and ever; He will guide us over death.”

The Hebrew phrase for “over death” carries the sense of being led through death or beyond death. It is resurrection language. The God of Zion is the God who leads His people through the valley of the shadow into the light of eternal life. The New Jerusalem is the city where death is abolished: “There shall be no more death.” (Rev. 21:4) Psalm 48 ends with resurrection hope—just as Revelation ends with resurrection reality.

IX. Zion and the Theology of Abiding

Psalm 48 is not merely about a city; it is about a people in whom God dwells. Zion is the eschatological expression of abiding. It is the consummation of John 15, the fulfillment of John 14:23, and the eternal realization of Emmanuel—God with us.

In Zion:

  • Abiding becomes permanent.
  • Presence becomes visible.
  • Judgment becomes righteous.
  • Pilgrimage becomes inheritance.
  • Death becomes passage.
  • God becomes all in all.

Psalm 48 is the song of the abiding ones, the anthem of the redeemed, the prophecy of the city where God and humanity dwell together forever.

X. Conclusion: The City of Our God, Forever and Ever

Psalm 48 is a glimpse into the future of the people of God. It is a prophetic vision of the New Jerusalem, the city of abiding, the joy of the whole earth. It declares the end from the beginning, revealing the destiny of those who dwell in God and in whom God dwells.

This is our God. This is our city. This is our inheritance. This is abiding, consummated and glorified. kwh

When God Forgets: Living Without the Memory of Sin

No More Remembrance: Entering the Mind of Christ

The mind of Christ does not remember our sins and faults. But Satan does—and he casts them before us in a relentless barrage of scenes and images from our former life. He remembers, and he hurls these memories at our minds until we finally awaken to what is happening.

“For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more” (Heb. 10:17). Our Father is merciful; He does not remember our sins. Why, then, should we continue to remember them?

Satan, the “god of this world,” works tirelessly to drag us back into the old covenant mindset. Under that former agreement, “there is a remembrance again made of sins every year” (Heb. 10:3). The worshipers should have had “no more conscience of sins,” yet year after year their minds were plagued, and they relied on animal sacrifices to reset their standing before God.

But our Savior ended the old covenant with all its outward, carnal ordinances. Animal blood cannot remove sins—nor can it erase the memories of sins past (v. 4).

Here is what Christ has done for us: it is as though every despicable deed of our former life had never happened. He has freed us from guilt, shame, and the darkness in which we once hid our actions. In place of all that, He has given us grateful hearts toward the King who bestowed such undeserved favor—granting us His mercy and, with it, His power to walk sinless in Eden once again.

Sinless, because He has given us a new center of being—one composed of light. Our past, present, and future are now held in His sinless life. For which is easier for God: to erase from His mind all sins already committed, or to keep us from committing sins today and tomorrow? Would not the same faith in His incomprehensible power address our actions past, present, and future?

Our Savior has cut out the cancerous core of sin within us and replaced it with a “new heart” and a “new spirit” (Ezek. 36:26). In His kindness, He has secured forever our access into His fellowship and family.

And this miracle of transformation is received through belief—simple, flat‑out faith. It is believing that God has completed the change, exactly as He declared. He has spoken this new creation into existence and now waits with great patience for us to awaken from our slumber. He endures our stubbornness with long‑suffering, allowing us to share in His sufferings.

Through the trials woven into life, He teaches us to trust His word more deeply. We run to Him for solace in our need and temptation, and our belief strengthens.

We complicate what He has made simple. We need only believe this about Christ: “Now once in the end of the world has He appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself” (Heb. 9:26).

Let Him speak again: “I will put my laws into their mind and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people…For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more” (Heb. 8:10, 12).

If God does not remember our sins, why are we remembering them? Even if we lament how our selfishness hurt someone, God does not remember that incident. Why should we? It is a clean slate. You want to walk by faith? Then this is a good place to begin. kwh

The Signal of the Abiding Remnant

A Manifesto for the Sons and Daughters of the End of the Age

There is a voice rising in the earth. It is not denominational. It is not institutional. It is not the voice of the religious machine.

It is the voice of those who abide.

Those who have remained in the fire. Those who have not fled the furnace of affliction. Those who have refused the escape narratives of men. Those who have waited for Yahweh Himself to reveal His government.

We are living in the time of the end—not as a slogan, not as a chart, but as the atmosphere of the age. The cauldron is heating. The nations tremble. The systems of men crack. The idols of religion fall.

And in the midst of this fire, Yahweh is preparing a people by burning out impurities, which are the false teachings.

He is preparing, not the ninety‑fold. Not the sixty‑fold. Not the thirty‑fold.

But the hundred‑fold—the sons and daughters who have yielded everything.

These are the ones creation has been groaning for. These are the ones the apostles foresaw. These are the ones who will stand when the masses fall. These are the ones who will rise from the ashes like the phoenix—not by myth, but by resurrection fire.

They are chosen. Not by merit. Not by pedigree. Not by denominational approval. But by Yahweh’s sovereign call.

And now, in this digital wilderness, the Spirit is gathering them.

Not into a brand. Not into a movement. Not into a hierarchy. But into a remnant fellowship—a communion of abiding ones who recognize the same flame in one another.

If you feel the pull of this voice… If you sense the fire in your bones… If you have been wandering, waiting, watching… If you have felt alone in your convictions… If you have seen the end approaching with clarity others cannot bear… If you have heard Yahweh whisper in the night seasons…

Then you are one of us.

This is your signal. This is your summons. This is your recognition.

The sons and daughters are awakening. The remnant is rising. The abiding ones are finding one another. And Yahweh is preparing His government.

Come forth. Speak. Write. Reveal. Abide.

The time is short. The fire is rising. The manifestation is near. The unveiling of 100-fold followers is at hand.

We are the abiding remnant. We are the sons and daughters of the end of the age. And Yahweh is gathering us now.

Awakening the Blind Church to Christ’s Last‑Day Vision

Recovering the eye salve that reveals God’s plan to multiply Himself

The greatest tragedy of the last days is not the darkness of the world, but the blindness of God’s own people to His astonishing purpose: the multiplication of Himself in His sons and daughters. “Each seed bears its own kind” comes to mind (Gen. 1:11-25). This is the divine intention woven through Scripture yet hidden from the natural eye. And in a mystery of sovereignty, God Himself has ordained this blindness until His children return to Him in repentance and spiritual sight.

Paul writes, “God has given them the spirit of stupor, eyes that they should not see and ears that they should not hear” (Romans 11:8). This condition is not merely ancient Israel’s; it is the condition of the church at the “time of the end.” We are living in the final church age—the Laodicean era, and the church has a spiritual sickness that Christ exposes with piercing clarity.

Christ says of His people, “You do not know that you are wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked” (Revelation 3:17). Yet His rebuke is not condemnation but invitation. He counsels us to receive from Him “gold tried in the fire,” the purified faith that reflects His nature; “white raiment,” the righteousness that clothes the saints; and “eye salve,” the anointing of truth that restores spiritual sight (Revelation 3:18).

Christ’s Rebuke, His Counsel, and the Throne‑room Promise to Overcomers

See what? See what He sees. See His vision for the earth. See how each of us dovetails into His plan, faithfully fulfilling our appointed part. The eye salve is truth—truth that removes the fog of false doctrine and reveals His prophetic ambition for His elect. Those who endure His rebuke and chastening are those who anoint their eyes with this truth (Revelation 3:19).

Therefore, Christ commands, “Be zealous therefore, and repent.” Those who obey receive a promise so staggering that it strains the imagination. In this age, it is not we knocking on His door—it is Christ knocking on ours: “Behold, I stand at the door and knock…” (Revelation 3:20). To those who open, He grants intimate fellowship and unimaginable authority.

To the overcomers He declares, “To him that overcomes will I grant to sit with Me in My throne, even as I also overcame and am set down with My Father in His throne” (Revelation 3:21). If you believe that this promise includes you, then you must prove it out–one way or another–by studying Revelation 3:14–22 with opened eyes and a yielded heart.

Christ concludes with the solemn refrain, “He that has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches” (Revelation 3:22). His vision—His plan—is written plainly in Scripture, yet it remains a closed book to many (Isaiah 29:10–12). We sense that He is speaking of wonders, but finite minds struggle to grasp infinite purpose.

Paul reminds us that “the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong” (Ecclesiastes 9:11), and “it is not of him that wills, nor of him that runs, but of God that shows mercy” (Romans 9:16). The winners are those to whom God grants favor—those He chooses to give ears that hear.

This is why Christ repeatedly said, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear” (Matthew 11:15). The Spirit is speaking to His body, but only the elect—those chosen and called—possess ears capable of receiving the message.

These elect are the ones through whom God will reproduce Himself. They are His first fruits (James 1:18; Revelation 14:4), the first in these end time days in whom God will fully manifest His nature. Their destiny is royal: to become kings in God’s Kingdom, which Christ will establish upon the earth (Revelation 5:10).

This is the high calling of God’s elect. This is the multiplication of God. This is the vision Christ is unveiling to those with opened eyes. The Sovereignty of God — Chapter 3 of The Unveiling of the Sons of God

To grasp the vision of the immortal sons and daughters of God, we must confront the reality of God’s sovereignty. God is totally in control. He rules. He governs every detail of our lives and every event unfolding on earth. He is the Supreme Authority, acting according to His will without seeking our permission.

God oversees all that occurs within human governments. As these words are written and read, He is ruling. Nothing happens that He has not foreseen, ordained, or allowed. “The powers that be are ordained by God.” Their rise, influence, and wealth unfold under His sovereign hand. Every moment in history—past or present—flows from His purpose.

The old hymn declares, “Thou art the Potter, I am the clay…Have Thine own way.” Yet the weight of that truth escapes our finite minds. The Creator sits at His wheel, shaping human vessels from the clay He formed. Some He fashions for common use, others He refines for noble service. His workings often remain hidden, for His ways exceed human understanding. Some vessels are shaped for beauty and honor, others for ordinary tasks. And some, never brought to the kiln, are pressed back into the original lump, their brief form absorbed into His greater design.

But many resist this truth. They do not like the life they have been given—the “cards” God has dealt. When they learn that He has mercy on whom He wills, they protest: “Then why does God still blame us? For who resists His will?” Paul answers, “But who are you, O man, to talk back to God? Shall what is formed say to Him who formed it, ‘Why did you make me like this?’ Does not the potter have the right to make out of the same lump some pottery for noble purposes and some for common use?” (Rom. 9:18–21).

He is sovereign. He does what He desires with His creation. Yet humans imagine themselves masters of their own destiny. Even those who stride insignificantly across the world stage think themselves formidable.

Consider Nebuchadnezzar, king of the Neo-Babylonian Empire (605–562 B.C.). His encounters with Yahweh, recorded by Daniel, taught him the hard truth of divine sovereignty. Nebuchadnezzar ruled a vast and wealthy empire, and Babylon itself was a wonder of the ancient world. But he failed to acknowledge the Source of his greatness. He boasted, “Is not this great Babylon that I have built…by the might of my power and for the honor of my majesty?” This, despite being warned in a dream that he would be struck with madness for seven years, “that the living may know that the Most High rules in the kingdom of men, and gives it to whomsoever He will” (Dan. 4:17, 30).

The dream came to pass. For seven years he lived like a beast. But when his sanity returned, his pride was gone. He confessed, “I blessed the Most High…whose dominion is an everlasting dominion…all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing…none can stay His hand, or say unto Him, ‘What are You doing?’” (Dan. 4:34–37). The most powerful man on earth learned that God rules—and that all earth-dwellers must reckon with His sovereignty. Nebuchadnezzar discovered it the hard way. Kenneth Wayne Hancock

The Manifestation of the Sons of God–What the World Needs Now

This world has one major need right now at the beginning of the 21st Century.  The world doesn’t need another politician telling the people what they want to hear.  The world doesn’t need a steady robust economy to help it through the hard times that have been prophesied upon it.  No.  The world needs the sons of God to arrive on the scene.  They must come forth for these last days.

The whole creation, the apostle Paul wrote, (whether it knows it or not), is anxiously awaiting the sons of God to come upon the world stage.  For the sons of God will have something that all mortals walking the face of the earth must have.  They will have the key that will set the whole creation free from the chains of a certain physical death.  These children of the Most High are God’s elect, His sons made in His image, and they are what this world needs.  They are the ones who will have cut through all of the deception and vice in this world system.  They alone will see the Spirit and walk in the Spirit and be filled with the Spirit of the living Yahweh.  They will build the old waste places and build the spiritual walls to the heavenly city.

Why the World Needs the Sons of God

The creation has purposely been subjected to mortality by its Creator God. The impending gloom of a certain death is no accident or aberration of God’s  original  plan.  It  has  been  His  will  all  along  for  death  to  come to all living.  And then, a few mortals will be brought by Him to an awareness of the abiding power of His spiritual presence and will become His actual spiritual children. He will change them and will engulf them with immortality one day soon.   And it is through them that the whole creation will finally come to know this glorious liberty from a certain physical death. The creation waits in eager expectation for the sons of God to be revealed.  For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the glorious freedom of the children of God. Romans 8:19-21, NIV. 

     Every living thing on this planet will die; the whole creation will decay and go back to dust.  And we, this earthly creation, are “in bondage of corruption,” as it says in the King James Version.

The word “corruption” is translated from the Greek word phthora, #5356 in Strong’s.  It means “decay.”  Its root comes from #5351 phthio, to waste, shrivel, or wither.  We, the creation, are bound to become decaying matter someday.  And all of us, be we religious or not, are groaning under the impending physical doom that awaits us.

All of us have a built in desire to live forever.  Every ancient culture, without exception, was concerned with this impending gloom of an early exit from life.  All the ancient religions were concerned about how to secure immortality  for  the  mortal.   And  so  it  is  with religions today.  Man keeps on waiting, waiting, waiting for something real that will happen in order to deliver them from a certain death.

The creation is like the wife of the Creator, who is in the  deep  pains  of childbirth.  She is struggling to deliver her  children,  the  sons  of God.  For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now.  And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body. Romans 8: 22-23, KJV.

The whole creation is anxiously awaiting the arrival of the sons of God because they are the first ones who will be released from mortality’s chains.  They will be the first ones who will not have to taste death.  And then after they are made known, the creation can look forward to its redemption.  That is how important the sons of God are.  When they are adopted or placed as sons, then a new era begins—an era where immortals will stride the earth, showing forth God’s way.

We Who Have Some Truth Also Desperately Need the Sons of God

Just look around us.  What do we see in every corner?  We see lurid trash in political high places, filthy-minded  movies and TV.  There is no shame to the world system.  And it is not getting any better.  So we try to lock in on the word of God.  We endeavor to glimpse a truth here, a truth there.  Some of us are trying to lead a holy life, but we “see through a glass darkly.”  We know, or should know that we are not walking in all truth.  For if we were, we would be bearing the same spiritual fruit as the prophets and apostles of God.  And we can’t seem to get in agreement and one accord with other sincere followers of Christ.

As  a  large  body  of  people,  we  can’t  see  eye  to   eye enough to get together.  Divisions abound.  We, if we are blessed, have a place to meet with a few other people who share some of our own beliefs, but something is dras-tically missing.  The unity of the Spirit is only a dream, for one group does not see eye to eye with another.  We are to be in one mind and one accord, and yet, who is to say just what that one mind is?  Who has the authority to say for sure anything?  Who has a sure word? There are several thousand “Christian” denominations, and they are growing exponentially daily.  There is probably a different concept of God and His plan for every one of His professing followers.

And it appears that the enemy is gaining ground, and we, the body of Christ, because of our disagreements and lack of unity, are seemingly losing ground as far as any “great move of truth” is concerned.

So what is the answer to this dilemma?  It is as if Yahweh Himself is needed to come down and just flat appear to His select few, whoever they are!  That would clear up the dim vision of those He has chosen.  They would definitely “get on the same page” after that shared glorious experience.  In the light of His own countenance and glow filling the room each would be in, He would straighten out off-concepts, purge out old leaven, old hypocrisies, and false concepts of Himself.  There would be no self-delusion if the King Himself came down to a handful!

Then a fire would well up from out of their bones!  Then they would cry to His people in His stead.  They would be His voice with his word welling up and out as springs gush out making rivers where dry land once was.

That is what we all need.  We need a sure word.  We need the Captain of our faith Himself to get a cadre of His brothers to catch on fire and, in turn, ignite the world.  We need a group of people baptized with the Spirit and with fire.   We need them!   We groan within ourselves, longing for someone to stand in the gap between God and the world.

That is the only thing that will ever turn this world upside down—if the people of the world were ready and knew they had a need for God in human form, had a need for the sons of the living God.

This whole creation is crying and groaning looking for someone sincere and true to believe in.  The heroes are gone; the people run to their idols of music and movies.  Those are their gods—gods who cannot see or hear them and their longings and needs, for their gods can see no one but themselves.  The whole creation does not know it, but they are groaning and longing for the manifestation of the sons of God.  And these sons will walk with the Lamb wherever He goes, for they shall be like Him.  These are they who will do the greater works that the Master spoke of.

It All Hinges on the Sons, But Do They Know Who They Are?

Yes, the manifestation of the sons of God is of extreme importance in God’s plan, but do they know who they are?  Do they realize their calling that He has placed on them?   Do  they  know  that  He  knew  them  long  before their earthly sojourn began?  Do they at present realize that  He  has  already  given  them  a glorious destiny—a destiny that has them justified from sin, set apart for this special work, and also glorified from heaven?  Does God’s elect, His chosen ones, know these things?

Have they called on His name and restored their heart back to Him?  But if they haven’t believed on Him, then how are they to call on Him?  And how can they believe on this God if they have never heard Him, never heard His Spirit, never heard Him who is the Word?  They are going to have to hear Him being spoken out of the mouth of another son in order to believe on Him.  And how shall these prospective sons hear unless there be a preacher?  And who is really going to be effective as a preacher?  The world is full of preachers.  Anyone who thinks they have heard from God calls himself a preacher.  The future sons will be reached by those who proclaim the truth.  And these proclaimers will be sent.  For whosoever shall call upon the name of Yahweh shall be saved.  How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? Our Royal Destiny in Christ—The End Product of the Abiding

Christ, the exiled King of the universe, is coming back to this earth to fully establish His government. He will be reigning and ruling through a body of chosen humans, a cadre numbering a few thousand (Revelation 7, 14). The whole creation is waiting “for the manifestation of the sons and daughters of God” (Rom. 8:19).

They will serve Him as viceroys and will be His executive administration on all things in His Kingdom. Every king in history has had his chancellors and lieutenants to carry out his will. Christ will share His power with us.

These are the manifested sons of God. These sons and daughters will know the vision of the mind of the king. They will understand the origins of His thoughts and desires. Christ said, “You have been with me from the beginning. The manifested sons will be sitting on God’s throne with Yahshua, the Son of God. He has promised this: “To him that overcomes will I grant to sit with Me in My throne…” (Rev. 3:21). They will know the King’s mind. They will have been taught His thoughts, vision, and will/desire for His creation.

They must learn the intricacies of His purpose and the steps of his plan of governance. God is reproducing Himself. He is agape Love; therefore, He is multiplying Himself, the Spirit of Love.

We need to learn of His ways, which are not the ways of organized churchianity. For He has said, “My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways my ways” (Isaiah 55:8).

The Cross Experience Comes Before the Abiding

The Spirit of truth does not dwell where sin still reigns

Sin must die on the cross with Christ before the Spirit of truth will dwell and abide in us. Yet sin is one of the most sensitive subjects—guilt, desperation, shame, and fear often accompany it. Few understand its scriptural definition: “Sin is the transgression of the law” (1 John 3:4). Which law? The Ten Commandments. Everyone has broken this law, yet Scripture says it “is not meant for a righteous person, but for the lawless and rebellious, for the ungodly and sinful” (1 Tim. 1:9).

Breaking the Ten Commandments is sin. Sin is not merely shuffling one’s feet on a sawdust floor or failing to attend a Sunday service. The law consists of ten commandments, and “He added no more” (Deut. 5:22). Many born‑again Christians call faults sin, and this frustrates their walk. Impatience, irritability, or personal shortcomings are faults—things we are growing through—but they are not violations of the Ten Commandments. Sin is a heart condition. Righteousness is a heart condition as well.

We are delivered from the old sinful nature by being crucified with Christ, our sacrificial Lamb. When He died, our old nature died with Him.

The Cross Removes Sin’s Power

Believers must be able to explain salvation from sin as Paul taught: “Our old man is crucified with Christ, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. For he that is dead is freed from sin” (Rom. 6:6–7). Christ took all our sins upon Himself, and when He died, our old sinful selves died, were buried, and were raised with Him into newness of life. By believing in Christ’s cross experience, our own cross experience becomes real.

Why do so few teachers explain this? Either they do not know the apostle’s teachings, or they do not believe them. Yet believing them is how we are translated from darkness into light (Rom. 6:6–12).

A new heart must be received before deeper things can grow within. Christ spoke of sin and repentance repeatedly. Conviction of sin is universal. Concerning the Comforter, He said, “When the Spirit of truth is come, He will reprove [convict] the world of sin…” (John 16:8).

He also said, “If I had not come and spoken unto them, they had not had sin: but now they have no cloak [excuse] for their sin” (John 15:22). His words removed every excuse. People must be confronted with their sin so they can recognize guilt and repent. Now we are to be like Him and speak of sin to the people. Christ promises, “The Spirit of truth… shall be in you” (John 14:17).

Throughout John 15 and 16, He warns that the world will hate and persecute His followers. Why? Because He commands us to let our light shine and reprove the world of sin. Man’s old nature does not want its darkness exposed by the light now in us.

Conclusion: The Cross Opens the Way to Abiding

The thesis is simple: the Abiding of the Spirit within us cannot begin until the Cross has done its work. Yahweh’s abiding presence is reserved for hearts cleansed of transgression and freed from the old nature. The Spirit of truth does not dwell where sin still reigns. But once the Cross destroys the “body of sin,” the believer becomes a vessel capable of receiving the abiding presence of Yahweh.

The Abiding is not an isolated spiritual experience; it is the fruit of crucifixion with Christ. When sin is removed, the Spirit enters. When the old nature dies, the new life begins. When the Cross is believed, the Abiding becomes possible. Thus, the Cross experience is not merely preparation, it is the doorway into the abiding life. Believing on the Name Brings Answered Prayer and the Abiding

The Way to Answered Prayer and the Indwelling Presence of Yahweh

There are commandments in Scripture that stand like doors. They do not merely instruct; they open into realms of divine experience. One such commandment appears in the writings of the apostle John: “This is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Yahshua the Messiah, and love one another” (1 John 3:23). This is not a suggestion, nor a theological footnote. It is the central requirement for those who desire answered prayer and the abiding presence of God.

John declares that “whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments” (1 John 3:22). And the first of these commandments is to believe on His Name. The Name Yahshua is not a mere label; it is a revelation. It means “Yahweh is the Savior.” To believe on His Name is to believe the message contained within it—that the invisible Yahweh has come in human form to save, that the Father was in the Son reconciling the world unto Himself, and that salvation is the work of Yahweh alone.

Yahweh confirms in many places that He is the Saviour. “I, even I, am the LORD (Yahweh), and beside Me there is no Savior” (Isaiah 43:11). [Compare Isa. 45:15, 21; 49:26; 60:16; Hosea 13:4]

This belief is not intellectual assent. It is the doorway into answered prayer, the gateway into divine indwelling, and the foundation of the abiding life. All of this hinges on faith: believing having not seen as yet.

The Name Yahshua: The Revelation We Are Commanded to Believe

The commandment to “believe on the name of His Son Yahshua” is rooted in the meaning of the Name itself. Yahshua is the Hebrew form of Joshua, meaning “Yahweh is salvation.” The Name is a declaration of identity. It proclaims that the One walking among men in flesh is none other than Yahweh Himself, the eternal Spirit clothed in humanity.

This is why John writes with such gravity: “He that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God” (John 3:18). Condemnation does not come from failing to pronounce the Name correctly, but from rejecting the truth embedded within it. To deny that Yahweh is the Savior is to deny the Father who dwelt in the Son.

Thus, believing on His Name is the first act of obedience. It is the acceptance of heaven’s witness concerning Yahshua. It is the foundation upon which all spiritual experience rests.

Believing on His Name and Answered Prayer

John ties answered prayer directly to obedience: “Whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments” (1 John 3:22). And the first of these commandments is to believe on His Name.

Why is this the condition for answered prayer? Because to believe on His Name is to believe:

  • that Yahweh is the Savior
  • that Yahweh dwells in the Son
  • that Yahweh now dwells in us by the Spirit
  • that prayer is the communion of Yahweh-within speaking to Yahweh-above

Prayer is not a human reaching upward; it is Yahweh-in-us reaching toward Yahweh-in-heaven. This is why Yahshua said:

“If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.” (John 14:14) To ask “in His Name” is not to attach a formula to the end of a prayer. It is to pray according to the truth of His identity—Yahweh revealed in the Son, now abiding in the believer. When we pray from this place of union, our petitions align with His will, and He delights to answer. Thus, believing on His Name is the doorway into effective prayer.

Believing on His Name and the Abiding Presence

John continues: “He that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him” (1 John 3:24). The commandment is to believe on His Name. Therefore: He that believes on His Name dwells in Yahweh, and Yahweh dwells in him.

This is the abiding life Yahshua described in John 15:

  • “Abide in me, and I in you.”
  • “He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit.”
  • “Without me ye can do nothing.”

Abiding is not mystical passivity. It is the result of believing the heavenly testimony concerning Yahshua. When we believe that Yahweh is the Savior, that Yahweh was in the Son, and that Yahweh now dwells in us by the Spirit, we enter into the abiding union that produces fruit. This is the earthly witness of the heavenly truth. This is the Spirit, the water, and the blood agreeing in one. This is the life of Yahweh flowing through the believer.

The Name as the Convergence Point of Heaven’s Witness and Earth’s Witness

In the previous chapter, we saw that 1 John 5:7–8 presents two witnesses:

  • Heaven’s witness: the Father, the Word, and the Spirit
  • Earth’s witness: the Spirit, the water, and the blood

These two testimonies converge in the believer through the Name Yahshua.

  • Heaven declares who Yahshua is.
  • Earth reveals what Yahshua does in us.
  • The Name is the bridge between the two.

To believe on His Name is to accept heaven’s witness. To receive the Spirit is to receive earth’s witness. To abide is to experience the agreement of water and blood. To bear fruit is to manifest the life of Yahweh. Thus, the Name Yahshua is not merely a theological concept. It is the meeting place of revelation and experience, of identity and indwelling, of heaven’s testimony and earth’s testimony.

The Unified Thesis: The Name Unlocks Prayer and Presence

The commandment is simple: believe on His Name. The promise is profound:

  • Answered prayer — “Whatsoever we ask, we receive of Him.”
  • Abiding presence — “He dwelleth in him, and he in Him.”
  • Fruit-bearing life — “The same bringeth forth much fruit.”

The Name Yahshua holds precious blessings and powers for the followers of Christ. It is the revelation of Yahweh as Savior. It is the key to prayer. It is the doorway to abiding. It is the foundation of fruitfulness. It is the center of the believer’s life. To believe on His Name is to enter into the fullness of what Yahweh has given in His Son. kwh

The Two Witnesses of Yahshua

Heaven’s Testimony and Earth’s Testimony in the Believer

There are passages of Scripture that do not merely inform; they unveil. They open like a door into the architecture of divine revelation. I John 5:7–8 is such a passage. In two brief verses, the apostle John presents a pattern of testimony—one in heaven and one on earth—each bearing witness to the identity and work of Yahshua the Messiah. These two testimonies are not parallel lines running independently of one another. They are two halves of a single revelation, converging in the life of every true believer.

The text reads:

“For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one.” (1 John 5:7–8)

John is not offering a doctrinal aside. He is unveiling the structure of how God reveals Himself and how that revelation enters, transforms, and bears fruit within the believer. When this heavenly and earthly testimony is placed beside the teachings of Yahshua in the Gospel of John—His Name, His Spirit, and the abiding life—the pattern becomes unmistakable. The two witnesses form one unified testimony of Yahweh’s salvation.

Heaven’s Witness: The Revelation of Who Yahshua Is

John begins with the heavenly witness: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost. These three bear record in heaven, and “these three are one.” Heaven’s testimony concerns identity. It reveals who Yahshua truly is.

The Father is the invisible, eternal Spirit—the One whom no man hath seen at any time. The Word is Yahweh expressed, Yahweh made visible, Yahweh speaking Himself into flesh. The Holy Ghost is the Spirit of truth proceeding from the Father, the same Spirit who overshadowed Mary, the same Spirit who descended upon Yahshua at the Jordan, the same Spirit who raised Him from the dead.

These three are one. This is heaven’s declaration: Yahshua is Yahweh revealed.

This is why His Name is not incidental. The Name Yahshua means “Yahweh is the Savior.” To believe in His Name is to believe the heavenly witness—that the Father was in the Son, reconciling the world unto Himself. Condemnation, John says, comes upon those who “believe not in the name of the only begotten Son of God” (John 3:18). The Name itself carries the message of who He is. Heaven testifies that Yahweh has come in the flesh, and the Name Yahshua is the banner of that revelation.

Earth’s Witness: The Revelation of What Yahshua Does in Us

John then turns to the earthly witness: the Spirit, the water, and the blood. These three “agree in one.” Earth’s testimony concerns experience. It reveals what Yahshua accomplishes within the believer.

The first earthly witness is the Spirit. This is the same Spirit the Father sends in the Son’s Name (John 14:26). The Spirit enters those who believe the heavenly testimony. He is the inward confirmation that Yahshua is Yahweh. He is the Comforter, the Teacher, the One who brings all things to remembrance. He is the abiding presence of God within the believer.

The second earthly witness is the water. Yahshua said, “Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you” (John 15:3). The water represents the cleansing, sanctifying, pruning work of the Word. It is the washing that prepares the branch to bear fruit. It is the continual purification that accompanies abiding.

The third earthly witness is the blood. The blood is the sacrificial life of Yahshua, the life that flows into the believer. “Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you” (John 6:53). The blood is union. It is participation in His life, His death, and His resurrection. It is the life of the Vine flowing into the branch.

Together, the Spirit, the water, and the blood testify that Yahweh now dwells in His people. Earth’s witness is the manifestation of heaven’s truth within human vessels.

The Convergence of the Two Witnesses in the Believer

Heaven declares who Yahshua is. Earth declares what Yahshua does. Heaven’s witness—Father, Word, Spirit—reveals the identity of the Savior. Earth’s witness—Spirit, water, blood—reveals the indwelling of that Savior.

The believer stands at the intersection of these two testimonies. To believe the Name Yahshua is to receive the heavenly witness. To receive the Spirit is to receive the earthly witness. To abide in Him is to experience the agreement of water and blood. To bear fruit is to manifest the life of Yahweh within.

This is why Yahshua said: “He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit.” (John 15:5) Fruit is not human achievement. It is the earthly witness of the heavenly truth. It is the visible evidence that the Spirit, the water, and the blood are at work within the believer. It is the manifestation of Yahweh’s life in a human soul.

The Unified Testimony: Yahweh Revealed and Yahweh Indwelling

When the heavenly witness is believed, the earthly witness begins its work. The Name reveals Yahweh as Savior. The Spirit enters to confirm that Name. The water cleanses the branch. The blood supplies the life. The abiding produces fruit.

This is the agreement of the two witnesses. This is the testimony God has placed in the believer. This is the life of Yahshua made manifest in His people.

Heaven testifies to His identity. Earth testifies to His indwelling. Together they declare one truth:Yahweh has come, Yahweh abides, and Yahweh bears fruit in those who believe His Name.
