THE ABIDING OF GOD: TRUTH, PURITY, AND THE SPIRIT WHO REVEALS THE SON

Trying to grasp Christ’s mystical thoughts is like reaching for a golden butterfly shimmering in the sun—beautiful, near, yet always slipping beyond the grasp of our earthbound minds. And then we blink, and the revelatory thought evaporates before our outstretched arms.

Yet Christ did not speak to bewilder us; He spoke to draw us into the mystery of God’s own indwelling. He declared, “I am…the truth” (John 14:6), and truth is the condition of His abiding presence. God will not take up residence where falsehood remains. Christ teaches that the Spirit of truth comes only when we cease knowing Him “after the flesh” (2 Corinthians 5:16) and begin to see Him as the ascended Son who sends the Comforter.

Therefore, the central claim of this essay is that God’s abiding presence enters the believer only when false concepts are purged, for the Spirit of truth—whom Christ sends after we stop clinging to Him as a mortal—guides us into all truth and reveals the Father dwelling in the Son.

1. God’s Abiding Presence Requires Truth

God offers us His abiding presence—His very life dwelling within us. But because He is truth, He will not inhabit a heart governed by falsehood. Christ’s own words establish this: “I am…the truth” (John 14:6). Truth is not merely a doctrine; it is the very nature of God. Therefore, abiding cannot occur where untruth remains.

Before God takes up residence in us, the old belief system must be purged of its errors. False concepts about God create a dwelling place unfit for His presence. The heart must be cleansed of misconceptions, distortions, and inherited traditions that obscure the true knowledge of Christ. Only then can the abiding begin. 2. The Spirit of Truth Is the Means of Abiding

Christ reveals that the abiding presence comes through the Comforter, “the Spirit of truth.” He says, “When the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth…he shall testify of me” (John 15:26).

The Spirit of truth does not speak of Himself. He speaks of Christ. He unveils Christ as He truly is—not as we imagine Him, not as we have been taught by human systems, but as the Son of God in His present glory.

Abiding begins when the Spirit comes. And the Spirit comes only in truth. He cannot testify of Christ to a heart still clinging to falsehood. He cannot reveal the Son where the mind refuses to be renewed.

3. Christ Must Depart Before the Spirit Can Come

Christ makes a startling statement: “If I do not go away, the Comforter will not come unto you. But if I depart, I will send him unto you” (John 16:7).

This departure is not merely physical. It is spiritual. Something in our perception of Christ must depart. We must release our limited, flesh-bound view of Him.

As long as we cling to Christ as a mortal man—full of passion, pain, and the limitations of flesh—we cannot receive Him in His ascended form. The Spirit cannot reveal the glorified Christ to a heart still fixated on the earthly Christ.

The departure Christ speaks of is the departure of our old way of seeing Him.

4. We Must No Longer Know Christ “After the Flesh”

Paul echoes this truth: “Though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more” (2 Corinthians 5:16).

This is not a denial of Christ’s incarnation. It is an invitation to move beyond it.

We must not cling to Christ merely as the suffering man of Galilee. We must see Him as He is now—the ascended, spiritual-bodied King who reigns at the right hand of God. Only when we release the fleshly view can He return to us in a spiritual way, in the capacity known as the Holy Spirit.

5. The Spirit Reveals the Father in the Son

The Spirit of truth guides us “into all truth” and “shows us things to come” (John 16:13). This is not abstract knowledge. It is revelation. It is the unveiling of the Father in the Son.

Christ pleaded with His disciples, “Believe me that the Father is in me…doing the works” (John 14:10–11). This is the truth the Spirit reveals. The Father dwelling in the Son, and the Son dwelling in us through the Spirit—this is the abiding.

The Spirit’s work is to manifest Christ within us, and in manifesting Christ, to manifest the Father. This is the mystery of the abiding presence. Knowing Christ “after the flesh” must go before He can come to us “after the Spirit.”

Conclusion

Christ’s teachings on the abiding presence are not easily grasped. They shimmer with spiritual light, always just beyond the reach of natural understanding. Yet He has given us the key: truth. God abides only in truth. The Spirit of truth comes only when we release our fleshly view of Christ and allow Him to reveal the Son as He truly is. When the Spirit comes, He guides us into all truth, testifies of Christ, and unveils the Father dwelling in Him. And in that revelation, God takes up His residence within us. This is the abiding. Christ the Door into the Heavenly Dimension

The door to the other dimension — the spiritual dimension — is Christ Himself. Scripture teaches that we must enter the Kingdom of God, but the question remains: How do we enter? Jesus answers plainly: “I am the door.” But a door always opens somewhere. Christ is the Door that opens into the righteous, heavenly dimension — the realm where God’s will is done, the realm Jesus taught us to seek when He said, “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth…” Through His righteousness, we step from the natural into the spiritual, from the earthly into the heavenly.

Peter expands this truth by explaining that an entrance into this Kingdom is “supplied” to those who add seven attributes to the faith already operating within them (2 Peter 1:1–8). These seven additions are nothing less than the divine nature of Christ, spiritually transposed into our earthly vessels. As we add them, we are not merely improving our character — we are entering the righteous spiritual dimension where God’s Kingdom operates. Christ is the Door, and these attributes are the steps through that Door.

This is the very purpose of God: to multiply His divine nature into “many sons unto glory.” We have been chosen to walk this path of apostleship, following Christ step by step, for “the steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD.” The Kingdom we enter is invisible, spiritual, and real — a dimension into which Christ alone grants access.

Christ has given us “exceeding great and precious promises,” and through these promises we become partakers of His divine nature. Peter, in the opening chapter of his second letter, lists the very qualities that form this path of entrance: virtue, knowledge, self‑control, perseverance, godliness, brotherly kindness, and love. These are not suggestions; they are commands spoken by an apostle who walked with the Savior Himself.

Peter’s authority is not theoretical. His life bears witness:

•           He performed the first apostolic miracle after Pentecost (Acts 3).

•           He opened the gospel to the Gentiles through Cornelius (Acts 10).

•           He served as a foundational leader and spokesman of the Jerusalem church (Acts 1–12).

•           He authored 1 & 2 Peter, strengthening believers and clarifying doctrine.

•           He displayed boldness under persecution (Acts 4–5).

•           He confessed Jesus as “the Christ, the Son of the living God,” by revelation of the Father (Matt. 16:16–17).

•           He was restored by Christ and became a model of grace after failure (Luke 22; John 21).

This is the man who tells us how to enter the Kingdom. His words carry weight because he walked with the Door Himself.

Therefore, we can trust Peter when he declares that adding these seven facets to the gem of God’s faith will open to us an abundant entrance into the everlasting Kingdom. Each attribute is a deliberate step deeper into the spiritual dimension where Christ reigns. We are not passive spectators but active participants in this transformation. As we cultivate these qualities, they become signposts marking our progress into the Kingdom, confirming our calling and election.

And the more faithfully we walk in them, the more abundantly the entrance is supplied — until we find ourselves fully stepping through Christ the Door into the dimension He has prepared for His sons and daughters.   Kenneth Wayne Hancock

John the Baptist—Forerunner of Yahweh in Human Form

From the moment John the Baptist stepped out of the wilderness, his voice shattered the silence of four hundred years with a message that demanded attention: “Prepare the way of the Lord.” His cry was more than a call to repentance — it was the announcement that Israel’s God was drawing near in an unprecedented way.

John’s mission as the forerunner only makes sense when seen through the lens of the oneness of God: the eternal Yahweh was coming to His people clothed in human flesh. John the Baptist’s ministry points directly to the mystery and majesty of the incarnation — that “God was in Christ reconciling the world unto Himself,” and John’s role was to prepare hearts for the arrival of the Son of God, who is the visible expression of the one true God Yahweh.

John the Baptist was unique, for he pointed a nation to the Son of God. The Son was going throughout the land doing miracles, claiming that it could only be the Father Yahweh working the miracles (John 14:10).

The miracles gave life, for Life was in the Son of God. “And the Life was the light of men” (John 1:4). John the Baptist was “not that Light but was sent to bear witness of that Light” (v. 8). The voice of one was crying in the wilderness, telling all to repent, for the Son of God—the Light—had come. He had studied the words of the Holy Spirit, the Comforter—words through the pen of Isaiah (Isaiah 40:1-5).

“Comfort, comfort my people, says your God.” This shows us that the Comforter, the Holy Spirit, is come. “But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceeds from the Father, he shall testify of me.” He will testify the truth as to who I am.  (John 15:26).

The Spirit of truth will reveal secrets concerning just who the Son of God is. The secret is this: The Son is the Father clothed in human form. Proof: Isaiah 9:6 speaks of Christ, the Son of God, calling Him the “Everlasting Father.”

The Way of Yahweh Is Yahweh’s Way

In Isaiah 40: 3, the voice of the Comforter’s forerunner cries in the wilderness saying, “Prepare the way of the LORD—Yahweh, Yahweh in human form.

We are on the way of Yahweh when we “make straight in the desert a highway for our God. [He is speaking of a desert highway for the Christ, the Son of God.] Every valley [the lowly and humble] shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill [the proud nations] shall be made low, and the crooked shall be made straight…and the glory of Yahweh shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together, for the mouth of Yahweh has spoken it” (verses 3-5).

The voice of the forerunner commands us, “Prepare the way of the LORD, who is Yahweh.” John the Baptist was speaking of Yahshua of Nazareth, of course. Therefore, the Son of God is the “way of Yahweh.” For Yahshua said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life—of Yahweh.”

The Son of God is the way of Yahweh. He is Yahweh’s way to manifest love unto this world. The Son is Yahweh’s way to provide forgiveness of sins. The Son is Yahweh’s way to give man hope in the resurrection. The Son, the appearance of Yahweh in human form, is the way that Yahweh makes Himself known to His creation (“I and my Father are one… If you have seen me you have seen the Father.”)

John the Baptist was that voice of one,” the forerunner of Yahweh, who came in the Son of God. “Prepare the way of Yahweh. Make His paths straight.” The Savior Yahshua is the path, the way, that leads us from death to life, from mortality to immortality.

The Spirit said to prepare the way of Yahweh. And sure enough, Yahweh came right after John the Baptist’s announcement. Yahweh came in human form, in the form of a servant, a humble man “acquainted with grief.” And He wept over His creation, for He had created them, and they had gone astray and were scattered as “sheep without a shepherd.”

And so, it goes on today. The everlasting Father is reaching out to whomsoever will come. Who will believe that it is the Father Creator God Himself who walks in human form among us? Who will believe that He “tasted death for every man. He then was raised from the dead, His body changed into a spiritual body which matches the original spirit body that He created everything in, in the beginning.

But “few there be to find this way of truth.” Yahweh’s way. How important is all this? The Son said, The only way that one may worship God is “in spirit and in truth.” The truth about God, His nature, where He is found, how He reveals Himself—all this is the truth. And the Son said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life.”

Conclusion

John the Baptist’s ministry forms a vital bridge between Israel’s prophetic hope and the revelation of God in Christ. His message prepared the hearts of the people for more than a teacher or miracle‑worker; it prepared them for the arrival of Yahweh in human flesh. Through the lens of the oneness of God, John’s role becomes even more astonishing: he was announcing that the God who promised to come to His people had finally arrived, not through another, but in His own incarnate presence. John’s voice still echoes today, calling us to behold the Lamb of God — the Son who reveals the Father because He is the very presence of the one true God among us (John 20:28; 1 Timothy 3:16).      Kenneth Wayne Hancock

Thinking God’s Thoughts–The Additions and the Abiding

If you want to hear from God today, soften your heart by believing. Believing what exactly? Believe that God exists and is there, very near to you. And that He reveals Himself to those who search for Him with all their heart. We need to believe Him, like a little child believes—with all our heart (Heb. 11:6).

That is why it is so important to tell children the truth. For they will believe you. They’ll believe you, for instance, about Santa Claus and the flying reindeer, until the day they discover their first betrayal, until the day when they trade their faith in for a plastic phony world.

Nevertheless, God promises true things to His children. He promises everlasting life and power that overcomes obstacles in our lives—starting today—if we do not doubt Him. He has promised us that if we believe Him, then He, the Spirit of truth, will come and dwell/abide in us!

But, first, we must abide in Him. We must dwell in Him by getting rid of untruths and, frankly, the doctrinal errors that we all have been subjected to. He calls this “purging out the old leaven” (I Cor. 5:7; see Purge Out the Old Leaven = Getting Rid of False Concepts | Immortality Road).

This is “abiding in Him.” When this is done, then He will abide in us. This is how spiritual growth works. For it is when His Spirit dwells fully in us that we will show forth Him! This is the fulfilling of His purpose: God’s will is for Him to reproduce Himself, and “God is agape Love.”

We abide in Him when we think His thoughts. It is when we “get our minds right” and “get with His program” that we can abide in Christ. This leads to Christ fully dwelling/abiding in us.

Again, to abide in Him and He in us is to think His thoughts. This is having the same mind that Christ has. “Let this mind be in you” (Phil. 2:5).

How to Think His Thoughts

Two spiritual tools exist to help us train our minds to think His thoughts. For Yahweh’s thoughts are not our thoughts (Isa. 55:8). So then, our minds must be re-educated. We are born from a matrix of doubt and disbelief. We have been misled about what the truth is. So, the Master Teacher has prescribed prayer and fasting to cast out the unbelief.

Put another way, the two increase belief. They add to our faith. In fact, the seven additions to the faith are added by faith/belief, and God has ordained that prayer and fasting come into our spiritual life. He not only desires this for us, but He also makes it happen (II Peter 1:5-12).

Adding the seven additions is the only way in scripture to “make our calling and election sure (v. 10).” These seven “things make you that you shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of Him. Adding them ensures that we will bear much spiritual fruit (v. 8). By adding them to our faith, we are ensured “an entrance…into the everlasting kingdom…” (v. 11). For His elect have their destiny pre-determined by God. And He will restore what we had with Him in the beginning—which are the seven additions to the faith.

Peter is imploring us to take heed. Take the additions to heart. If you want to be in His elect cadre, we must add the attributes of His divine nature. The Spirit is telling us to add them. We must do this. We do not work for salvation; it is a gift. But we must work to spiritually grow through study and prayer. Winning the Battles in Our Mind Field

The abiding comes after we win the mind-battles. We abide in Christ, and His Spirit dwells within us when our minds have won the thought-wars.

But it is a battle in our minds. Satan attacks our thinking. He tries to occupy our minds with trivial, physical pursuits. Christ said to not think on food, clothing, and other physical things, but look on the invisible, spiritual things.

Our spiritual growth level is determined by how much or how little of His Spirit is manifested through thinking the things that He thinks about.

Where do we get His thoughts? From studying His Word. His Word is made known in Christ. For Christ is “the Word made flesh.” He has left us a treasure trove of the Father’s thoughts. These thoughts from above make up the “whole armor of God [Spirit].” When we think on these things, we are protected from all the “fiery darts of the wicked.” We are speaking about the “mind of Christ.”

Through prayer we conquer the thoughts of the world and replace them with the King’s thoughts. This is what the spiritual war is all about. Yahweh has allowed Satan to be the “god of this world.” Satan is the “power of the air.” This “air” is the invisible highway that transports Satan’s thoughts into the minds of human beings. Worldly thoughts arise in our minds. We are at spiritual war with these.

The apostles knew of this battle. They knew it was worldly thoughts versus thoughts that are based on His Word. They knew that the armor of God would spiritually protect us, but we must put it on. We are to “put on the whole armor of God” (Eph. 6:11-18).

War Imagery

Brothers and sisters, we are at war with a clever, deceitful adversary, whose job it is to negate the plan and purpose of Yahweh. He thinks he can win this war by attacking the minds of God’s people. That’s why we desperately need God’s armor.

Notice the war imagery used by the apostles concerning the resistance we fight. We are commanded by Christ: “Bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ” (II Cor. 10:5). Here thoughts are likened to prisoners of war. Thoughts not for Christ are taken captive by His Spirit of truth within us. Thoughts are captured and replaced with a thought from the mind of Christ. We have an adversary that needs to be conquered and sequestered.

God’s armor is His thoughts on these things: truth, righteousness, the gospel of peace, faith, salvation, the Spirit, the word of God, and prayer. Study these out and think on these things, and you will “arm yourself” with Christ’s mind. When we think the thoughts that Christ thinks then all is won, and we are secure in Him.

When we do this, then He will abide, dwell and remain in us. The battle is in our minds. And we shall soon know that the mind of Christ is armor of God. We are told to “arm yourselves with the same mind of Christ. It is in the thoughts. When we think His thoughts and not what the denominations teach, then we have armed ourselves spiritually.

What is God up to?

To understand God’s vision for His creation, we must understand His law of harvest. We must comprehend His desire to reproduce Himself. We need to see that His harvest includes His Spirit totally reproduced in the humans He has chosen for this honor. It is all His doing. “Many are called, but few are chosen” by Him for the honor of fully showing forth His glory, for fully being like Him.” We need to see that Satan is attacking God’s plan when He attacks us with wayward thoughts that do not further His plan and purpose.

Introduction of “The Abiding”—The In-dwelling Spirit of Love

The abiding of the Holy Spirit in us is a definition of God’s ultimate growth within a believer. The abiding is when He, the Spirit of Love, comes to dwell in us and remain in us, thus fulfilling His purpose. And God does have a purpose and a plan to fulfill that purpose. He created human beings to carry out His plan.

“God is love.” Agape love. His purpose is to multiply or reproduce Himself—Love—in man and woman. That is where you and I come into focus. This happens when we spiritually grow the agape Love He has planted in our hearts (I John 4:16). We show the greatest love in the universe, like Christ did by laying down our selfish lives for Him. We show our love for Him when we give up our old life and take on His life.

 [This is the Major Leagues. Christ is assembling His team. Game time is at hand.  The denominational churches contain many who are called, but sadly, they will not hear this message about dying with Christ on the cross and resurrecting with Him. Once this truth sinks in, it burns a hole in your heart. The fire of God’s reality will consume you. Romans 6 is not preached or taught in 99% of church houses.

I love all of you; With each post that He shares with me, I give it my best to bring light to the road you are travelling. I know. It is a thankless vocation, marching on in the Savior’s army. But we thank Him for everything, and He thanks all of us with the fruit of the Spirit: Love, joy, and peace.

Being Called and Chosen

God calls many to be a part of His plan. It is an invitation to be adopted into His royal spiritual family. “Many are called, but few are chosen.” The chosen are called His elect.

Since “God is a Spirit,” it takes faith to enter His Spiritual realm (John 4:24). It takes belief. It takes belief that the sin in our life is dead. And it takes belief that we have now a new, sinless heart. Belief. “For they that come to God must believe that He is, and that he is a rewarder of those who diligently seek him” (Heb. 11:6).

We are born into this old 3-D life with a selfish, sinful heart. To be a part of God’s plan, mankind must surrender to God. He then will give them an escape from the earthy, sinful life.  

The old heart must go. But how does one get rid of it? God has provided passage into a new life! First, we must learn about and then believe in the sin sacrifice that the Father has provided. Our sacrificial Lamb is known as Jesus Christ in English speaking countries, but His Hebrew name is Yahshua. He is the Son of God, our Savior.

How does he save us? Christ took all of mankind’s sins upon Himself. When He died on the cross, our old sinful heart died with Him! Then we were buried with Him. Then the Father raised Him from the dead. When He was raised, then we were “raised to walk in a newness of life,” too.    

The Apostle Paul Explains

“Or have you forgotten that when we were joined with Christ Jesus in baptism, we joined him in his death? For we died and were buried with Christ by baptism. And just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, now we also may live new lives. Since we have been united with him in his death, we will also be raised to life as he was. We know that our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in our lives. We are no longer slaves to sin. For when we died with Christ we were set free from the power of sin” (Romans 6:3-7 NLT).

This is how sin is conquered. It has already been defeated! This is true repentance from sin. This is our testimony. We need only to believe it and walk in it.

When you believe, you are walking in the doctrine of Christ. Repentance and Belief are the first two doctrines that the apostles walked in. Through believing this, you now are continuing in the truth that the apostles had.

But this is only the beginning of spiritual growth. This is only 30-fold fruit bearing. Our destiny is to sit with Christ on His throne. It is to bear 100-fold fruit. To see what 100-fold fruit bearing looks like, look at the lives of the early apostles. They healed the sick and raised the dead, and they taught righteousness.

Two Promises from God—Conditional, but Powerful (Part 1)

Christ made two great promises. But they are conditional. If the condition is met, then we are catapulted into the 60-fold and 100-fold spiritual growth (Matt. 13:3-23). This is the growth that Christ and His apostles walked in. Yes, this is the ticket for entry into His inner circle, the Round Table, if you will. {Please take a moment and hit the “Subscribe” button.}

Some of you may not believe me about being like Christ and attaining Christlike growth. Yet it was the King Himself who said, “He that believes on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do because I go to the Father” (John 14:12). What “greater works”? The miracles! This is the spiritual growth that the early apostles had: The power to raise the dead and heal the impossibly and terribly sick.

[This is what you have prayed and asked God for. You’ve asked Him for a great move, that He would fill you with His Holy Spirit, that His church would awaken. He is showing us how He is doing it. He is coming back for “a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish” (Eph. 5:27). To be ready for His coming, we must stand faultless, cleansed of all spiritual spots and moral blemishes. We must be holy and worthy to be immersed into the Holy Ghost and fire (Acts 2:1-4).

The First “If…”

Christ said, “If a man love me, he will keep my words, and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him” (John 14:23). “If a man love Me…” Here is the first condition. The person that loves Christ will “keep His words.” If we love Christ by keeping His words, then the Father will love us. And the godhead will come and stay and dwell within us. This is the abiding!

This is a powerful promise. The Father Himself has promised to live in us—if we keep Christ’s words! We want this relationship, to have the Father living in us and doing His works (Acts 2:33).

So, how do we “keep Christ’s words”? As we have seen before, the word “keep” is translated from the Greek word meaning “to guard, to preserve, to protect.” And the word “words” comes from the Greek word logos, which is the plan and purpose of God spelled out from the beginning. We know that Christ is the Logos, the Word “made flesh” that dwelt among us and still does in the Spirit. Christ is the Purpose enacted for us all to see. A Higher Love

Someone will say, “The Father already loves us.” Yes, He does. But now He is talking about a higher love. The depth of this love for us comes after we love Christ by keeping His words.

For, you see, the Father loves us in our spiritual infancy. But the Father’s love for us in this context is a deeper kind of love. It is like in the natural world. Our love for an infant is on a certain beginning level. Our love for a baby is not based on the same criteria as for a mature human being walking in the Spirit, making their “calling and election sure.”

The Father’s love for us as seen in John 14:23 is deeper, based on our hunger for His knowledge and our performance of His desires. God’s love at this stage of growth is a profound appreciation of our walk of faith, trusting Him, even though the trials are daunting. We are spiritually talking about young men and women in spiritual growth.

John wrote to “young men because you are strong and the word of God abides in you, and you have overcome the wicked one” (I John 2:14). John is not writing to a “babe in Christ.” He is writing to the spiritually strong, to those with the word of God dwelling in them, having overcome Satan’s tricky ploys. This is 60-fold fruit bearing. They know God’s plan and purpose of reproducing Himself in a body of sons and daughters. They are strong with the Spirit abiding in them. They have overcome the devil.

The trouble is this: Most children of God want to remain spiritual baby Christians. They are content to bask in the Father’s love. They are mostly alive for what they can receive from the Father. But He wants them to grow in wisdom and understanding that they might learn how to love Him like He loves them. But most really don’t want to grow; they want to be happy and not face any trials and problems. God sees this as being “lukewarm.”

To show that we love Him more deeply, He tells us to guard, protect, cherish, and preserve His words, the Logos. We are to watch and guard His eternal purpose, which was with God in the beginning. And His purpose is this: God is reproducing Himself in us. When we guard the Logos, the Father will love us, and God will feel welcome to abide, stay, and remain in us. This process brings the abiding.

Why isn’t this happening much more often in the world? Because before you can guard and preserve His eternal plan and purpose, you must know what His plan and purpose is. We are talking about “knowledge of the holy.” Those that love Christ will learn of the Logos (November | 2024 | Immortality Road; Guarding the Logos | Immortality Road).

God loves those who guard, cherish, and protect the logos, the mind of Christ. He promised that He would dwell and abide in us! A wonderful promise!     Kenneth Wayne Hancock

The Abiding Comes with the Mind of Christ

The seventh addition of agape love is a direct result of abiding in Christ, which is having the mind of Christ.

Christ commands us, “Abide in me” (John 15:4).  This “abiding” comes from staying and remaining in Him and His mind. “Staying” and “remaining” are translated from the same Greek word as “abide or abiding.”

This is accomplished when we continually have Christ’s thoughts, plan, and purpose [More on His plan and purpose found here: Walking in the Spirit Comes from Knowledge of God’s Purpose of Reproducing Himself–Being About Our Father’s Business | Immortality Road (wordpress.com). This “abiding” yields much fruit. This spiritual fruit is agape love, which is the seventh addition to the faith.

We are to stay in His mind, walking in His thoughts. This is knowing Him. This knowledge of Him and His thoughts is the second addition to the faith.

To fully know Him we must know that He is sovereign. He created everything–both the good and the evil (Isa. 45:7). And He has subjected us to evil to accomplish His purpose of reproducing Himself—in us. We must remember how Christ suffered, how He endured the betrayals and the lies told against Him and even His crucifixion on false charges. He suffered, and He is our example, “that we should follow his steps” (I Peter 2:21). His armor will protect us from the onslaught of evil thought-arrows. And then once the trials are over, His love grows in us more and more until Christ is “all in all” (Eph. 1:23).

To abide in Him, we must think His thoughts. Part of Christ’s thinking is understanding death (the evil). To fully appreciate the resurrection unto eternal life (good), we must understand death. For you cannot partake in His resurrection without first partaking in His death. Kenneth Wayne Hancock

The Father Abiding in Us

God wants to inhabit us and abide and dwell in us. This is how He fulfills His purpose: To reproduce and multiply Himself, which is agape love. We know that we are His temple. He made us for Him to dwell in. Many times, we see Yahweh meeting Moses and Joshua [Yahshua the Savior, same name]. They met in the tabernacle in the wilderness. They carried on conversations there. This is His will, His desire that all God’s people be prophets (Numbers 11:29).

It is first the Father who dwells/abides in Christ; the Father speaks the words and does the works through the Son (John 14:10). [Newsflash! We are “members in particular” of the Son’s body; we are the “body of Christ.” Since we are a part of Christ’s body, then the Father, the Spirit of truth, is in us, too!

Can we believe this? Christ believes it. He has faith in the word of the Father. And, of course, we can believe it! It is His faith in operation here. We are dead and our life is hid with Christ in God, (Col. 3:3). Our life is Him now. And that Him is the Spirit of truth that has come into you and me.

If anyone knew God this way, it was the apostle John, “the man whom Jesus [Yahshua] loved.” For John leaned on His chest and was literally comforted by Christ. Let us now lean on Him as John did. He is right there by you and me in spirit. Lean into Him and be encouraged that we all have this opportunity to draw close to Him. For the Holy Spirit through the apostle James said, “Draw nigh to God, and He will draw nigh to you” (James 4:8).

Nevertheless, some of us have thought, “If only we had the Father dwelling in us, then He would speak and work through us.” If. There are no if’s nor but’s. It is all “Yes!” The power is there at hand. “The works were finished from the foundation of the world” (Heb. 4:3). We are not talking about the Father being way out there somewhere, but rather, closer than close.  He is inside of us.

[All these things written down by Christ’s apostles are maddeningly difficult to grasp while held hostage by a trinitarian three-God conception of the godhead. Yahweh dwelt in His Son; Yahweh is the Father and is an invisible Spirit, the Holy Spirit. Once that is straightened out in one’s heart and mind, then eyes see more clearly as to what God desires and how He wants to make it happen. ]

The Comforter, the Spirit of Truth

He has given to us another Comforter, which is the Spirit of truth “that He may abide/dwell” with us forever” (John 14:16). His presence is already promised and prepared.

The Comforter is the Spirit of truth. And the Spirit of truth is the Father who has promised to dwell/abide with us. Now, since we have that promise—that the Father will be in us—then by the Father’s presence within us, He will do the same works as He did through the Son of God. It is all in His timing, of course.

Final thought: Faith is the key. For His spiritual offspring, the Father abides in us when we believe that the Father dwells in us. We have to reckon it so by faith in His word. It is already done in His mind. He is waiting on us with great patience/endurance. He now wants us to be a witness here on earth of His magnificent glory. That is not just to witness His glory, but to be the witness. Remember this enigmatic concept? Man is the glory of God (I Cor. 11:7). And the good man will be humbled by this love that His Creator has bestowed upon him. And he will realize that he is only a speck of dust floating in a brilliant ray of light that is God’s mercy.   Kenneth Wayne Hancock

In the Beginning Was the Seed—Part One

(Every garden begins with a seed. The Spirit is saying, Come with Me and dig deep in the garden of God)

We must “dig deep” because the garden holds a secret. But the garden gate is locked; we need the key. Christ is the key to the mystery of the locked garden gate. Christ’s words enfold this truth: “The parable is this: the seed is the word of God” (Luke 8:11).

Seed = Word. Word = Seed. Therefore, “In the beginning was the Word [Seed]…And the Word [Seed] was God” (John 1:1). And the Seed was God. In the beginning of all things was the Seed. And those that are His have been “born of that incorruptible seed, the word of God” (I Peter 1:23).

We now believe that the Seed, the Son of God, died, was buried, and was raised from the dead. Our belief in Him generates a new birth of that same Seed/Word in our hearts. We have that same seed in us. We are created in His image–both physical and spiritual. Like a garden seed is programmed to die, be buried, and spring to life, so it is in the spiritual realm.

What do seeds do? They grow. They are designed to spring to life and grow. Be it animal, vegetable, or spiritual, we are all designed to grow from a seed. In the Holy Bible, Christ and his apostles have commanded us to do certain things to spur on this growth.

The book The Additions to the Faith deals primarily with one of His commandments: “Add to your faith” the seven additions of the divine nature (I Peter1:5). Your faith is really His faith. There is only one faith (Eph. 4:5). Faith is the seed-beginning of all potential spiritual growth. It takes believing the word/seed faith, having not seen the physical evidence.

We should pause before exploring the seven additions to our faith. We must hold this truth tightly. The faith we have now from God is Christ’s actual faith/belief system. Christ believes  His own plan to spread agape love all over the earth in human beings.

God’s purpose is the reproduction of Himself, which is Love. He does this by using the age-old Law of Harvest: Each seed bears its own kind. “Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, this he will also reap” (Gal. 6:7 NASB). Spiritually speaking, we reap what we sow. But this sowing and reaping has nothing to do with Christians giving money to evangelists and believing that they will gain a return of money “one hundred-fold.” This prosperity doctrine is insidious. It preys on desperate people who fall into the trap of always looking after the flesh, thereby missing the Holy Spirit.

The Law of Harvest has to do with spiritual growth, as well as physical. Christ said, “The words I speak they are spirit and they are life” (John 6:63). There is no spiritual growth except through a germinated seed. The seed is the word of God. Then the word, like Christ, is made flesh in our mortal bodies. But the seed must be sown in good ground, in a “good and honest heart.”

Spiritual growth is how much of God’s Spirit of love grows in our hearts. He wants us to bear the peaceable fruit of righteousness in a fully mature growth which Christ calls bearing 100-fold fruit. To bear this amount of spiritual fruit, we must “know him that is from the beginning,” the beginning of all things. “Beginning” is from the Greek word arche. This “arche/beginning is not a recent, little beginning. It is big and deep and goes back before the worlds were framed by the word of God. The same word is used in John 1:1: “In the beginning was the Word.” Or, we can now say, “In the beginning was the Seed.”

This study gives us the key to the garden gate. This study about the Seed/Son opens it. And it gives us knowledge on how to enter the 100-fold fruit bearing growth. For knowing Christ from the beginning is the key.      Kenneth Wayne Hancock
