More on Adding Temperance to Knowledge

In previous posts we have seen that in order to secure “an entrance…into the everlasting kingdom of our…Savior,” we must add certain spiritual attributes to the faith that God has endowed us with [1]. In so doing, we “give diligence” in making “our calling and election sure” [2].

We are told by the apostle Peter to add “temperance” to the knowledge of God and His plan for our perfection.

Since our very spiritual growth in Christ is in the balance here, a bit deeper examination of this word “temperance” is fruitful. It is translated from the Greek word egkrateia (#G1466). Thayer’s Lexicon states that it is “the virtue of one who masters his desires and passions, especially his sensual appetites.”

It is derived from a Greek adjective egkrates (#G1468), meaning “strong, robust; having power over; mastering, controling, curbing, restraining.” So “temperance” is from Greek words meaning “to have control over.”

So How Does the Holy Spirit Help Us Get Control Over Bodily Appetites?

Knowing the truth will make us free, Christ said–of whatever ails us [3]. “Ye shall know the truth…” Know. There’s that “knowledge” spoken by Peter again, as in “add to you faith virtue, and to virtue knowledge…” What knowledge? The knowledge of truth, which is the mind of Christ, simply put. Yes, the mind of Christ–His thoughts, plans, and purposes. He did say, “I am the way, the truth, and the life” [4]. So, first knowing Christ’s thoughts, plans, purposes and His word, and then doing them–this will make us free of and give us control over sensual appetites.

There is another “knowing,” and this one is huge. “Knowing this, that our old man was crucified with [Him], that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin” (Romans 6: 6). Our old sinful self, in God’s eyes, was crucified with Christ on the cross. And our old sin-soaked heart, which was enslaved to sin, is now free from all fleshly pulls. This knowledge, straight out of the plan and purpose and mind of our Savior, is the truth that makes us free from unrighteous haunts. Period.

Now. The ball is in our court. We are forced by Him to either believe this truth, which is His word and plan written down in plain English, and thereby be freed from the slavery of sin and sinning, or we continue on in unbelief. That is the choice. Chosing to believe this truth opens up the way to add these spiritual qualities like temperance, that He has admonished us to add to our faith, thus enabling us to “go on unto perfection.”

Temperance, then, is an integral part of the character of one who is an elder of the body of Christ, one who is mature [5]. This is a description of a temperate man, one who has his earthly body under control, leading him to be able to “hold fast the faithful word as he has been taught.” After adding temperance, the man of God will have the power to not soon be shaken through any temptations of the devil. He will be able to walk in the power of the word of God.

The elect of God will begin to realize that gaining control over the earthly body is a necessary pre-requisite in fully becoming the manifested sons and daughters of God. And because temperance is one of the fruits of the Spirit, the stronger the presence of the Holy Spirit in our lives, the more temperance we will exhibit (Gal. 5: 22-23). More Spirit in us, more self-control.

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance…And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the passions and lusts.” This last sentence is the very next verse, v. 24. Isn’t it astounding that the word goes right back to being crucified with Christ? In another translation we read, “Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires” (NIV).

Here it is in plain black and white: There is a direct correlation of having the “fruit of the Spirit” operating in our lives and being crucified with Christ. In fact, the crucifixion with Christ of our old nature is the very key in receiving His Spirit, which in turn yields the fruit of the Spirit in our lives–one of which is temperance or self-control. It is much easier to control one’s self after knowing and then believing that it is dead.

Earlier in his letter to the Galatians, Paul writes, “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me” (2: 20). And there it is. Our bodies live on now, but it is not our old selves anymore living in them. But rather it is Christ’s Spirit that lives now in us. And this life that we live is because of His faith in His own plan, now believed on by us, that by believing that He is raised from the dead, we too are now risen “to walk in a newness of life.”

It is this Rock that we are building up each other as the temple of God in the earth. This is the solid Rock foundation that we must build upon. Because the weather coming soon to this earth is going to shake and crumble all houses not built on the right understanding of His word, plan, purpose, and thoughts. If it is built on a faulty foundation, then the house will come crashing down. Tribulation is coming upon the earth, and it will touch us all. Only He is our safety net–not some imagination of a rapture that someone dreamed up in the 19th century.

The Great Tribulation is coming. We must prepare by first “knowing the truth.” For Satan is going to deceive many in these latter days. “Let no man deceive you,” Christ warned. For the “falling away” or apostacy is already in full odious bloom. The churches have been duped and lied to by false teachers and false prophets. Many pastors are ignorant of this deception and yet, they continue to pollute the flock and inoculate them with poisonous doctrines and concepts. But “the wise will understand” (Dan 12; 10).

Origins of Christmas Season Found in “MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT”

“MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT” is referred to as the woman, which is a symbol of a false religious system. This mother church system has an identifier in the scriptures. This is a tag that tells us about her. She has a “name written in her forehead.” Names in scripture tell what the person or thing is—what its roots are, what its core values are. A name in scripture tells us its origin, its reason to be, and its destiny. This name written in her forehead means that her mind is full of what her name implies. Her heart and mind is full of what her name means. And her name was “MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH” (Rev. 17:5). Her name is given all in capital letters to signify its great importance to us.

First, this church’s name is a “MYSTERY.” The masses who wonder after the world system are in the dark. The origin of the political and religious systems of the earth is a mystery to them. A mystery is a “who done it?” The passive masses are in the dark about the characters and their roles in the drama happening on the world stage.

The second part of her name is “BABYLON THE GREAT.” This term is a mystery also. The first thing that comes to mind is the ancient city of Babylon, the capital of the Babylonian Empire in what is today Iraq. This great city, described by the Greek historian Herodotus, was so grand in its day that its Hanging Gardens was known as one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.

But what’s the old city of Babylon’s connection to the name of the woman riding the beast in Revelation 17:5? Why is this old city’s name a part of the name of the false religious system that persecutes the true followers in the last days?

The answer lies in the fact that the religious system of the ancient city of Babylon has passed itself on down through the centuries to our day. History teaches us that the Near East’s fertile crescent spawned a mystery religion with its birthplace in Babylon. It was there that Nimrod became prominent. He was the son of Cush, the grandson of Ham, and the great grandson of Noah. “He began to be a mighty one in the earth. “He was a mighty hunter before YHWH: wherefore it is said, Even as Nimrod the mighty hunter before YHWH. And the beginning of his kingdom was Babel {Gr. Babylon}” (Genesis 10: 8-10). This religion was passed on down to pagan Rome. {Even the Catholic Bible admits in a footnote on Rev. 17: 5 that “MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT” is pagan Rome! And one of these ancient pagan traditions that not only has survived, but has thrived today is Christmas. People all over the world celebrate this holiday, not knowing of its tainted origin and of its pagan roots.

This brings us to the whorish woman’s name: “MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.” This false church is a mother church. Who did she give birth to? The law of harvest states, Each seed bears its own kind. Those organizations who practice and adhere to the mother’s doctrines and traditions are by nature her offspring—daughters of the mother church. And one of pagan Babylon’s strongest traditions is the winter solstice season’s Saturnalia/Christmas. And yet, the whole world wonders after it, believing that it is the greatest time of year, not know at what they marvel.

Yet I do not condemn anyone who celebrates it. I once did, too. But I wanted the truth at all costs, and when this part of the truth came, I had to make a stand to forego the holiday. It makes waves in the family, for they will not understand at first. All my kids are grown now, and they do understand the stand I made. And all those who are pressing “on for the high calling” of sonship and daughtership of God–they will make a stand for truth. The princes and princesses of God will realize that the truth is Him. Add to Knowledge Temperance–On Being Puffed Up

Someone on this earth will sit down on the throne of God alongside our Savior and will be a ruler in the government that the King will establish in all the earth. In fact, a whole company of over comers have been “predestinated to be conformed to the image of His Son” (Rom. 8: 29). Fully matured, they will stride this crippled earth after the Great Tribulation. In God’s stead as His ambassadors of the literal Kingdom of Heaven will they rule with Him, for they will have His Spirit fully developed within them. These are the “partakers of the divine nature” who will do the King’s business after the disasters that will smite the earth.

“No man takes this honour unto himself” (Heb. 5: 4). It is God’s doing. He has a plan and He is quite capable of helping them carry out His own plan. And that plan and purpose is to share Himself with His creation. He is Love, and all Love can do is love and share and give.

Those of us who have been called to this “high calling of God in Christ” have been left a textbook explaining how to receive immortality. We now are in the process of studying it and taking it to heart. We need this instruction in order to receive the proper training and education to be an effective ruler with Christ in the soon coming Kingdom of Heaven right here on earth. That textbook is found in the “scriptures of truth,” the Holy Bible, which is God’s letter to us, a guidebook He showed to His prophets and apostles. And He is now showing it to us who believe, who have faith.

Adding to our faith

The apostle Peter instructs those of us who have been called to “partake of the divine nature” (II Peter 1: 3-4). He relates that God promised us immortality, and it is by these promises, that we can get rid of our old sinful nature and receive His divine nature. And God’s nature grows and matures in us to the point that in the end, it will be all Him. The divine nature grows in us through receiving more true knowledge of Him and His plan. And part of that is the additions to our faith.

“Add to knowledge temperance”

The apostle Paul wrote that “knowledge puffs up, but charity (agape love) edifies” (I Cor. 8: 1). This puffing up is the sound of an inflated ego that has no place to go with the knowledge; there is no desire to flow the knowledge on out to others. Agape love, conversely, flows out of its heart of love and shares and builds up fellow Christians, helping them in their walk with God.

The novice in Christ will get the bighead after gaining some of the true knowledge of God. There is an innate tendency in the old nature of man and spiritual babes in Christ to have one’s pride inflated upon receiving this knowledge, which has “been kept secret from the foundation of the world” (Matt. 13: 35).

This knowledge flows out of the mind and heart of God and sheds light on the very mysteries of the acquisition of immortality. This information is precious–so rare and fine a treasure, in fact, that “few there be that find it” (Matt. 7: 14). A beautiful four lane highway is leading many to destruction. “But the gateway to life is very narrow and the road is difficult, and only a few ever find it” (v. 14 NLT).

Knowledge of these things will puff a person up. Why? Because they are still thinking that they are the object of God’s blessing and not the channel of it.

Therefore, knowledge of the holy things must have temperance added to it. Self control must be added. And the major lesson we must learn is that our little powerless self did not come up with this knowledge on its own. It was not delivered to us for any great thing that we are or have done. No. It is pure grace flowing out of God’s heart to us. It is all Him, favoring and having “mercy on whom He will have mercy” (Rom. 9: 15). It is all Him. It is our privilege to be a channel of this knowledge on out to His people.

Beware of False Teachers

Paul warns in another place about getting “puffed up” by knowledge. He warns new Christians not to get entangled by men who teach a “philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ (Col. 2: 8).

He is saying that men will deceive young Christians through all kinds of worldly earthly thoughts. But Christ is all you need, which is knowledge about who He is and what He has done for His people.

“You are complete in Him” (v. 10). You don’t need mumbo jumbo bells and whistles and gimmicks of worship, as it were. “For in Him dwells all the fullness of the godhead bodily.” And through His sacrifice of Himself, you have been circumcised spiritually. His Spirit invisibly cuts out your old sinful Adamic nature, and He gives you a new heart. “Buried with Him by baptism, wherein also you are risen with Him through the faith of the operation of of God, who has raised Him from the dead (v. 11-12).

False teachers are “puffed up”

One who teaches false doctrines tries to “beguile you,” and is “vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind” (Col. 2: 18). Remember that they “come to you in sheep’s clothing.” They appear as “messengers of light.” They have a little smidgeon of truth, and it has puffed them up as they imagine vain things about God and ways to worship Him.

How does a false teacher or preacher first go astray? He gets all “puffed up by his fleshly mind.” “Fleshly” here is from the Greek word sarx. It is a mind controlled by the “flesh” (sarx). This denotes the old nature, natural thinking man, unregenerate man. He has an earthly mind. “He that is of the earth is earthly, and speaks of the earth; he that comes from heaven is above all…for He whom God hath sent speaks the words of God” (John 3: 31, 34).

The phrase “of the earth” points to the same origins as Adam in the garden, made of the dust of the earth, clueless as to the heavenly destiny for mankind. These false teachers are puffed up with a bit of God’s knowledge, yet remain Spirit-less when it comes to the truth of God.

So, yes, temperance must be added to knowledge. This entails, of course, self-control in all areas of a Christian’s life.

Add to Virtue Knowledge–The Additions to Your Faith

We have seen that some Christians are called to “go on unto perfection.” These are the elect, the ones chosen by God to be “a kind of first fruits” of His glory. They are the trailblazers into that spiritual country of immortality and will serve as princes and princesses in God’s soon coming kingdom that will subdue all of man’s governments and will fill the whole earth.

We have seen that these sons and daughters of God will not be content with “playing church,” but will forge ahead in study and prayer, searching for that hidden wisdom of God. They are the ones who are searching for “a better [country], that is, an heavenly” one. They are on a quest to enter into the heavenly New Jerusalem that will come down here to earth and will be the habitation of immortals, who are those who have spiritually matured.

They will understand that to fully partake of the “divine nature,” they will have to go beyond that initial flush of faith we Christians have all experienced. These will see that the full spiritual maturity calls for additions to their faith. Just possessing in one’s heart a strong conviction that God is real and working in one’s life is not the nutrient that will foster the spiritual growth, which leads to the harvest called “Christ in you, the hope of glory.”

And make no mistake, brethren, glorification is where the elect are heading. It is in the mind of God; it is already done in His books. We need to embrace this truth and make the necessary sacrifices that will bring about this maturity.

We have seen that in order to go on with Him on this path, we must add certain spiritual attributes to our faith. Peter tells us to “add to your faith virtue,” which is that quality that helps us be proactive and not passive in this walk. Virtue is that warlike energy that takes the fight to the enemy. It gets us off the couch and into the fray. Adding knowledge to virtue

The second addition to the faith is adding knowledge to virtue. God does not want us running out there cutting and slashing with the “sword of the Spirit” at just any old thing that pops up. Nor does He want us to be gullible and believe everything we hear about God. We must have knowledge added to the zeal.

Many “little children” of God, energized with their new found faith, want to get out there and change the world. So they rush out and tell everyone they meet about their experiences in God. This universal reaction comes out of a heart that means well. But like Paul says, “They have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge” (Rom. 10: 2).

There is a “knowledge” then that young Christians need to be in agreement with. If we strike out on our new found Christian walk without this knowledge that the apostle refers to, then we will wander off onto a path that detours us away from the road to the celestial city.

Some detours

What are some of these detours? They are imaginations; they are false teachings about the plan and purpose of God. The apostles and prophets continuously warn us about not believing false teachers and preachers.

One detour takes an unsuspecting young Christian to “Neverland.” It is the mythical concept that just accepting Christ grants us a ticket to heaven and not to the bad place. They are promised by their teachers that they will go to heaven and stay in heaven forever with God. That’s about it. They are never told that Christ is coming back here to earth–what a stupendous event! And He is bringing all the dead in Christ with Him. They have never considered it. And what about those who are alive when He touches down on the Mount of Olives? What happens to His followers who are alive? And what happens to the people who survive the Great Tribulation Period? What happens to them here on earth? All this never enters their minds.

Another detour that hinders Christian growth is the false promise of a rapture. Total escapism. Not going to happen. But people rush out in their zeal and believe this because it sounds good and logical. Yet, they never study it out and prove it one way or another to themselves. It is tricky. So what is this knowledge Peter’s talking about?

To answer that question, we must be prepared to dig deep into the scriptures of truth. Knowledge is a noun translated from the Greek word gnosis (#1108) meaning “knowledge.” We see it in the English words “diagnosis” and “prognosis.” The verb form of this word (#1107; #1097) means “to make known.” So the noun means “that which is made known.”

But there is a lot of “knowledges” out there. Which knowledge is he talking about?

So what has been made known? What exactly is this knowledge that the apostles were so keen on? First, God has “made known” to us through Christ’s resurrection the “ways of life,” as in the path we will take to arrive at a state of immortality or everlasting life. Literally. Not “crystal blue persuasion,” “floating around heaven all day.” No. God has given us the knowledge on how to obtain immortality. That is how big this concept is. There is a true way into His kingdom/government as His elect sons and daughters. We can see this in the book of Acts where Peter is quoting David, “Thou hast made known to me the ways of life” (2: 28).

Christ’s resurrection, where His earthly body did not remain in the grave–this is our hope, that as He promised, we, too, can receive immortality. But there is so much of this knowledge to learn. True knowledge of how we will attain immortality does not come willy-nilly. If our earthly jobs require a modicum of seriousness and sobriety to master and perform, how much more does our training to be His fellow rulers in His kingdom?

After all, Christ promises this to some: “To him that overcomes will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also over came, and am set down with my Father in his throne” (Rev. 3: 21). You mean some of us will literally sit on the throne with Christ? Somebody will, and He said, Whosoever will may come. Kings and queens sit on thrones. But to be sitting on the one and only throne designed by and for immortals. That’s getting out there. Need more faith? Maybe we need these additions to the faith, to grow it, to feed it, to enlarge and strengthen it.

What else is God “making known” to us? “That He might make known the riches of His glory on the vessels of mercy, which He had afore prepared unto glory.” Some human beings that He calls “the vessels of mercy” He has already prepared to receive “glory.”

Nothing more glorious than everlasting life. The “glory that He has for us is immortality. He is making known this knowledge of these true spiritual riches that some will be glorified with Him at the end of this age! That is what He is making known right now (Rom. 9: 23).

He is making known the mystery of His will. “That God would make known what is the riches of the gloryof this mystery…which is Christ in you, the hope of glory…even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations but now is made manifest to his saints (Col. 1: 27, 26).

This “glory” spoken of here is spelled out in Romans 8: 18-31. It speaks of the adoption, where we mortals shall be redeemed by God through resurrection and receive a new spiritual body that cannot die like this earthly body that is physically corruptible. God gave us a destiny unto this glorious state beforehand, that we would “be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren” (v. 29). And if we are, indeed, one whom He has predestinated, then He has called us, justified us, and He has also glorified us (v. 30). There is so much more that He has “made known” to His children. We are told to add this knowledge of His plan and purpose to the virtue/zeal and on to the faith. Adding knowledge then is all about first learning His true plan and promises and incorporating them into our thinking. This takes true teachings, much study, and much communication with our Savior. Feasts, New Moons, and Sabbath Days–Mere Shadows of Christ in Us

The Feast Days of Yahweh, His New Moons and Calendar, and His Sabbath Days–even the Ten Commnadment Law itself–are but a shadow of the spiritual light we are in Him and that He is in us. A shadow is not the real thing. We can learn from studying a shadow, but a shadow can never replace the thing that creates the shadow.

After we are crucified with Him, buried with Him, and risen with Christ–after receiving a new heart from the Master, the apostle Paul says this: “Let no man therefore judge you in respect of a feast day, or of the new moon, or of the Sabbath days: which are a shadow of things to come…” (Col. 2: 11-17). In fact, these feast days and Sabbaths and laws “serve unto the example and shadow of heavenly things,” even as God told Moses to “make all things according to the pattern showed to you in the mount” (Heb. 8: 5). All things that Moses laid down to the children of Israel are a “shadow of heavenly things” and not the heavenly things themselves.

And what are these “heavenly things” that the apostle is talking about in Hebrews 8: 5? We children of the living God are those heavenly things! When we finally get it that it is “no longer I that lives but Christ that lives in me,” we then are the pattern for all the things that Moses instituted in the first five books.

The old testament was the sprinkling of animal blood upon the tabernacle, for “without the shedding of blood is no remission. But the “heavenly things” needed “better sacrifices than these” for purification (Heb. 9: 23). We, brethren, are those “heavenly things” that needed the blood of the Lamb to purify us!

We now as the spiritual body of Christ were before the sabbaths, before the moon, before food and drink, before the holy days, the feast days, before time, before this earth, before this world. We are now “risen with Christ” and we “seek those things which are from above” [Col. 3: 1]. We now yearn to see our true home, our heavenly dwelling.

For God has established in this new walk, this “newness of life,” a spiritual reality (Rom. 6: 4). It is built upon better promises wherein He says that He will put His Spirit in our minds and hearts and that He will not remember our sins anymore! This is the new covenant (Jer. 31: 31-34; Heb. 8: 12).

The apostle Paul says that we are a new creation and “are complete in Him… buried with Him in baptism, in which you also were raised with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead” [Col. 2: 10-20]. We are new spiritual righteous creatures now and are not to be judged in respect of what we eat or drink, what holy days, new moons, or sabbaths that are observed. Why? Because His Spirit now in us was before all the laws and observances were set down on this earth. This does not give us a license to carelessly break them. Rather His Spirit in us guides us to that right walk in Him.

In other words, we now do not observe religiously these mentioned things to somehow be accepted by the Father. To the contrary, we use these to teach us to come to the Savior in a true, meaningful way.

We do not do them to insure that we are okay with God. That would be working for salvation. Remember: they are shadows and not the reality of true worship. Rather they, like the Mosaic Law and the Ten Commandments, are part 0f the “schoolmaster” that Paul refers to, that “the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster” [Gal. 3: 22-25].

The Schoolmaster

The laws of God are instructive to a seeker of God. They teach us and help bring us to the cross. They show us about His plan of redemption. His feasts show that very plan as a type and shadow of Christ Himself. The new moons and sabbaths teach us of His plan and timing for His coming kingdom. But they are but a shadow of the reality that now resides in our hearts. They are only an image of the reality. They are made for us to learn from–made for us by our Creator. But they are only a shadow of the Reality. That Reality is Christ’s Spirit in us.

Shadows Are Not Real

Shadows have never been the real deal. Shadows are actually made from a lack of light. Shadows are in the shape of things or people, but they are not the real thing; they are not a part of reality. Shadows merely imitate reality; they simulate what is real; they intimate that which is true; they suggest obscurely as to what or who made their image possible. But they are not the real thing.

They do not have the depth. They lack that third dimension. Shadows are flat and a bit distorted at times. They lie upon the earth in only two dimensions. Something three dimensional is held up off the earth, and light is actually blocked and a flat shadow results–a lack of light laying flat on the earth. Shadows are earthly phenomenon; they are distinctively of the earth.

Furthermore, shadows have no life in and of themselves. They are only beneficial in that they resemble at times the thing that blocks the light. Shadows are dark lifeless representations of other things. They cannot give life because they have not life to give. The law, along with the feast days, new moons and sabbaths are a shadow of the reality found in Christ.

We Can Learn from Shadows

But we can learn from shadows. What do they tell us? We can glean a rough idea of what something is, what is its shape, what is its function. But we cannot by embracing a shadow ever obtain the reality.

Shadows are merely lifeless, lightless representations and can never perfect anyone. They can lead you to the Perfecter, but worshipping and circling a shadow is not worshipping that Glorious Reality.

All shadows disappear when the true Light comes near. Christ is the Light with “neither shadow nor variableness of turning” [James 1: 7]. The true Light dispels the shadows. When He is truly come inside of us His temple, the Light will cause the shadows–the new moons, feast days, sabbaths, and all other earthly situations of worship to disappear.

These two passages of scripture should become clearer now: “The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath” (Mark 2: 27).

“The law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient…” (I Tim 1: 9).

Miracles–When Will the Body of Christ Perform Them?

Miracles. We’ve all prayed for them. A sick loved one. A need that we wanted to see met. We Christians have all wanted the power to do what the early apostles did after Christ’s resurrection–heal the sick at will, restore limbs, cure cerebral palsy, and raise the dead.

That’s power from on high. And I’ve wondered, Why not miracles and healings like the early apostles? God, why not now?

The answer: Timing. God, the Spirit, will move through us in His own good timing.

We must be aware that the above miracles are just some of the “gifts of the Spirit” that the apostle Paul writes about in I Corinthians 12. He lists nine of them. And I cannot help but think that they are listed in order of their intended presentatation to mankind, according to the needs of man coming into the kingdom of God. Paul is, after all, a “wise master builder” and lays the foundation of the house of God in the right order.

The first gift that God gives to man through His people is the “word of wisdom.” “Wisdom is the principal thing” (Prov. 4: 7). It is the first thing that we need, and it is to be in reverential awe of God (Job 28: 28) [for more see my book Yah Is Savior: The Road to Immortality which you can find at the top of this page. The second gift of the Spirit listed is the “word of knowledge.” Very important for our day. It did not say, “My people are destroyed for lack of miracle workers doing wondrous acts.” They are destroyed because of a lack of knowledge of God’s true word and will. How can a Christian work miracles when he is eaten up with old leaven and false doctrines. He first needs wisdom and knowledge, and those that He gives these two things to are the ones that He will use to give them through.

There is a famine of the word of God in the land. The world is full of false doctrines spewed out by false teachers. The truth is what is needed first in anyone’s life–true wisdom from above, true knowledge of the holy. That is understanding; that is departing from evil.

No. His body is not ready for the reaction to miracles flowing through us right now. I personally could not handle the reactions of the world. I am not strong enough physically, mentally, or spiritually to handle the all-invasive eye of the media, which would detract from getting the truth out. Christ drew thousands on a hillside. Can you imagine at this moment what satellite TV would do with a true apostle doing the miracles of Christ?

Better to “wait on Yahweh…with patience wait for it…let patience have her perfect work…with much longsuffering” let us serve Him.

God obviously wants more truth to flow to the people. He is in the process of calling and choosing His “little flock.” The gifts of the “word of wisdom” and the “word of knowledge” are what the people need right now. And they are gifts of the Spirit, just like the “working of miracles” is a gift from God to mankind.

Those in the body who have truth must serve as channels of the gifts of the Spirit, starting with the word of wisdom and the word of knowledge. All Christians are capable of letting these flow through them to others once they have purged themselves of false concepts. God’s Chosen People–The Lost Sheep of the House of Israel

In these latter days, God is searching for His people. The unenlightened will respond, saying that the people known as Jews today are His people, so no problem finding them.

But they are wrong. 85% of today’s Jews did not spring from the loins of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob/Israel [1]. They are not the “lost sheep of the House of Israel” that Christ was only sent to, but are of a Turko-Mongol tribe known as the Khazars who converted en masse to Judaism at the heighth of their power during the Middle Ages.

These people are not God’s chosen people who He scattered in 721 B.C. and 603 B.C.–the House of Israel (ten tribes) and the House of Judah (two tribes), respectively. Yahweh likens His chosen people to sheep, the sheep of His pasture.

And although they strayed and sinned against Him and He scattered them, He is jealous in His watching care over them, having something wonderful planned for them at the end of this age.

Our job as His elect, is to sift through all the information out there, both true and false, and share the truth with those who are slated to come into His government, His kingdom.

But some teachers are persisting on teaching falsehoods and lies about God’s plan and purpose, about the endtimes, and about just who His people are.

In the scriptures, He refers to the religious leaders of the 12 tribes of Israel down through the centruies as “the shepherds of Israel.” These shepherds–the rabbis, pastors, ministers, priests, evangelists, prophets, teachers, and pastors–have not fed the flock of Yahweh with His truth. In fact, they have hidden the truth about Yahweh’s identity, His name and its significance and meaning, and His plan and purpose in reproducing Himself in this earth in His elect.

Another Gospel

They have substituted “another gospel,” another name, and another false vision that does not agree with the prophets’ and apostles’ vision of Yah in His kingdom glory.

Furthermore, these false shepherds grow rich from His people. They fleece the people of their money, deceiving them into supporting a system that churns out falsehoods, misconceptions, and myths about the Creator.

Because of all this, Yahweh through the prophet Ezekiel prophesied against these shepherds. “Woe be to the shepherds of Israel that do feed themselves! Should not the shepherds feed the flocks?” (34: 2). He is saying, You profit from my people, but you don’t do anything good for them. You don’t feed them; you don’t comfort the sick or gather the lost. “But with force and cruelty have you ruled them” (v. 3-4).

And because of you wicked pastors, my sheep were scattered and “wandered through all the mountains, and upon every high hill…upon all the face of the earth, and none did search or seek after them” (v. 5-6). No one eaten up by the world system cares about the “lost sheep of the House of Israel,” who Jesus/Yahshua said He was only sent to. What great importance He placed upon them! Christ’s Spirit through the apostle James wrote his book to them! “James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad, greeting.” To the twelve tribes that were already by then, 700 years 0n, scattered “north and west” of Jerusalem. James’ mind was thinking the same thoughts as his Master Jesus/Yahshua. He knew that he was sent to the lost sheep.

Should we think that all the other apostles were any less mindful of these “lost sheep of the House of Israel”? This proves that the above message delivered by the Holy Ghost through His prophet Ezekiel about His sheep and their false shepherds was far-reaching, spanning many centuries, even to the end of our age!

And so the Spirit has a message for the sheep and their false shepherds today. “O ye shepherds, hear the word of the LORD (Yahweh)…Behold, I am against the shepherds; and I will require my flock at their hand…” And the false pastors will stop feeding My people, and they will stop making their living from them. “For I will deliver my flock from their mouth” (v. 7-10). Falling into the hands of the living God is a fearful thing! I would not want the Creator to be angry with me and be against me because I was teaching false doctrines!

God Is Searching for His Lost Sheep

Yahweh goes on to say that “I will search my sheep, and seek them out.” God will find them where they are scattered all over this world. He will feed them with truth, seeking out His lost ones. They are lost, for they know not who they are; they do not know that they are the descendants of the Twelve Tribes of Jacob, whose name was changed to Israel. They not only do not know who they are, they do not know that God Almighty is seeking them out.

Yes, He is seeking them out by first placing in them a hunger and a need to know their spiritual roots. Meanwhile, God is placing in the hearts of true shepherds the true knowledge of His plan and purpose, and they will with the Great Shepherd at the helm teach the lost sheep about Him and His kingdom and how He is regathering and restoring His people to the original prominence they once had with Him.

God will find them where they are scattered all over the earth. He will heal them and save them, and will set up one shepherd over them, and he shall feed them, even His servant David (v. 23). Yes, King David in his new spiritual body will be over us in the kingdom. Christ is coming back to establish His government of the entire earth. There will be peace in His kingdom and “showers of blessing” will fall on the land for His people (v. 26).

To be a part of this, we, the sheep of His pasture, must prove all things out that are taught to us. Question everything and pray for God’s guidance in proving a teaching–whether it is true or false. We must dig deep, very deep into the spiritual matters if we want to reign with Him at the end of this age. Kenneth Wayne Hancock

No Rapture–Further Proof

Many Christians feel that, well, God would just not allow His true people to go through the Great Tribulation Period. God would just not let us suffer like that because He loves us.

Many reason that God is too merciful and through Christ’s sacrifice we have been redeemed. So God would not allow His Christians of the modern era be killed during Tribulation and waste, as it were, His redemptive work in us.

God did say, “I change not…I am the same yesterday, today, and forever” (Mal. 3: 6; Heb. 13: 8). So we need to find out what He has done in the past; that will be the key to gain understanding about this mystery.

He also said, “My thoughts are not your thoughts; neither are your ways my ways” (Isa. 55: 8). Man thinks with man’s wisdom. But God’s ways are grounded in precedent that He has laid out throughout history, telling “the end from the beginning.” We all need to get this one thing: God is sovereign and will do things His way, not how we would do it. “There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death” (Prov. 14: 12). It seems right that God would not let His followers suffer through the tribulation period. But that is man’s thinking.

I recently had a comment supporting the rapture. It was well reasoned and articulated. In it the reader said, “God couldn’t protect them all [Christians during the Tribulation] AND fulfill what has been prophesied.” I disagree in that “with God all things are possible.” God can do with us whatever He chooses to do

He also said that “God has always removed his own from places that would receive his judgmentl.” I replied, “Where does it say that?” In fact, the scriptures reveal just the opposite.

Before the Great Tribulation Period begins, God induces the 7 year tribulation by first opening the seals of the book that contains the Great Tribulation Period in its pages. These seals include the world wars, calamity of nations, famine, and Death [seals 1-4]. To think that these God ordained catastrophes, which are the seals of the end time book opened by Jesus Himself–did not include true Christians is not thinking this thing through. I know that of the 500,000 American dead in World War II, there were several thousand American Christians who were killed. And that was just one war since Christ started opening the seals–His doing.

Look at the fifth seal in Rev. 6: 9-11: the souls of Christians killed are crying, Revenge us. And they are told to wait until their fellow Christians that should be killed should be fulfilled. Should be killed?

And what about the sixth seal–the mother of all natural disasters–great earthquake, “stars of heaven” falling into the earth [asteroids, meteorites], the “kings of the earth and the great men” say to the mountains, Fall on us and hide us from the face of him that sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb: for the great day of His wrath is come…” (6:15-17).

Christ even alludes to this time of the opening of the sixth seal when He spoke to those women, mourning for Him because of the imminent death by crucifixion. “Daughters of Jerusalem, weep not for me, but weep for yourselves, and for your children.” Why? Because of the hardships on the little children brought on by the sixth seal. “For, behold, the days are coming, in the which they shall say, Blessed are the barren…” For the barren women won’t have children that will suffer through tribulation. “Then shall they begin to say to the mountains, Fall on us; and to the hills, Cover us” (Luke 23: 28-30). These are the exact words used by the “rich men” in Rev. 6 when earth wide disaster hits. And He said that to His followers!

So God’s wrath has already started; it is all His doing and His followers are still on the earth. With all of these seals opening, Christians unfortunately may be killed. But for us, “to die is gain.” And this is just the preview of the trumpets and vials to come during the actual 7 year Tribulation.

Moreover, Christ is speaking directly about the Great Tribulation Period in Matt. 24. At the time of the abomination of desolation, “there shall be great tribulation…and except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake, those days shall be shortened” (Matt. 24: 15, 21-22). We are talking about the real flesh bodies of the elect of God, perishing right along with the rest of humanity except that God would intervene and cut the wrath time short.

Historical Proof

Furthermore, here is biblical historical proof that God’s followers perish along with the unrighteous–done by God’s own hand: God is warning Jerusalem through Ezekiel. “Behold, I am against thee, and will draw out my sword out of his sheath, and will cut off from thee the righteous and the wicked…against all flesh…” (21: 2-4). What was Yahweh’s sword? The Babylonian army. “…That the sword of the king of Babylon may come” (v. 19). At the time of the fall of Jerusalem about 600 B.C., God still had “7,000 that had not bowed the knee to Baal,” and some of them perished by the sword of the LORD–Babylonia.

So we see that Christians have been and may be slain through God’s auspices; He is sovereign and can do His plan exactly the way He wants to. Perhaps this is what it means when it says, “You gave us up to be devoured like sheep and have scattered us among the nations…You have made us a reproach to our neighbors, the scorn and derision of those around us…All this happened to us, though we had not forgotten you or been false to your covenant” (Psm 44: 11, 13, 17, NIV). And, yet, “as it is written, for thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter” (Rom 8:36).

God is sovereign, and His way of doing things is not our way. He has His reasons why His followers will not be raptured, why no one will be raptured–a concept foreign to the early church apostles and fathers–a concept literally born in a dream by a woman in the 19^th Century.

The Elect of God–Gifts of the Spirit Are the Identifying Signs

Recently a reader of this blog asked, “But while the sons of God will know who they are, how will others know who they are?”

I responded by saying that the manifested, 100 fold fruit bearing sons of God will be the culmination of the Law of Harvest spoken of in Scripture: “first the blade, the ear, the full corn in the ear,” able to reproduce out of itself–some “thirty fold, some sixty, and some one hundred fold” [1]. These are the levels of growth of the Holy Spirit within the sons and daughters of God. John refers to these degrees of growth as “children, young men, and fathers” [2].

When “Christ be formed” in them, signs will follow [3]. Gifts of the Spirit will flow, which includes healings, miracles. Right now God’s timing calls for the first of the gifts of the Spirit to be given through the elect to others: “the word of wisdom” and “the word of knowledge” [4] Without the truth contained in those first two gifts, a brother or sister cannot “come out from among them and be separate” [5]. This foundational truth helps to purge the “old leaven” teachings (contained in the parable of the woman putting leaven in three measures of meal or flour–leaven meaning the hypocrisy and insincerity of the Pharisees and their ilk [6].

I have wrestled with this question: God, why aren’t there more legitimate healings and miracles being done like what happened in the first few chapters of the book of Acts of the Apostles. Answer: We need some true men of God like them who have all their ducks in a row spiritually speaking and have “purged out the old leaven from their thinking, which includes all of the old false concepts and teachings and doctrines we all grew up with. Then I realized how important it is to let the word of wisdom and knowledge flow unrestrained.

When the time comes, God will do something special in their lives–something absolutely astounding in the power-giving category. All the way through the Bible He did just that. There is no reason to believe that it will be any other way in these latter days. After all, He said, “I am the same yesterday, today, and forever…I change not…” [7].

The sons-of-God-to-be, the elect, which means “the chosen ones,” may not at present know their destiny that has been pre-ordained by God. Right now they may only know that there is this pull to know the truth. There is this longing for justice and truth that won’t let them go. Other things of this present world system may tug at them, but a hook is in their jaw, and they are being reeled in by the Great Fisherman, who right now is teaching some how to be “fishers of men” [8].

And they do look just like everyone else. But to themselves, they are learning to look “after the Spirit” and not the “outward appearance” [9]. By faith they are looking upon the “things that are not seen,” which is the Spirit [10]. And yes, they will be transformed, but they will go through a spiritual growth cycle as referenced above.

Knowledge of this growth process is lacking in Churchianity today. The people in the pews want “It” right now. They are used to instant pudding and mashed potatoes, instant messaging and internet input. But growth in Him is His growth in us. It takes time for the seed “to fall into the ground and die” and germinate, and pop through the ground as a perfect little blade of grass, a perfect little “babe in Christ” [11]. And this babe in Christ needs the “sincere milk of the word” that it may grow [12]. But this takes humility in giving up the old life and thoughts and habits.

That is why the Master told us, If you are going to follow Me, you better “count the cost.” For it costs everything. It is easier to sell your earthly possessions; it is much more difficult to sell or get rid of your self with its personal materialism, which is idolatry [13]. Kenneth Wayne Hancock

“Let Us Go on to Perfection”–Spiritual Maturity Begins with Repentance from Sin and Faith Toward God

We cannot go on to a maturity of growth in God’s plan until the spiritual foundation is laid and secured in a person’s heart.

We are indeed urged by the apostle Paul to “go on unto perfection.” But this cannot come to pass until the foundation, or “first principles of the doctrine of Christ” is laid (Heb. 6: 1).

Now Paul’s exhortation begs some questions. What does “perfection,” or maturity entail? What are these “first principles” of Christ’s doctrine, and how do they serve as a foundation for the glorification of His body to follow?

If Christ’s teachings outlined in this passage are the very foundation of building this “holy habitation,” this “temple of the Holy Spirit,” then what will the finished spiritual edifice look like? If the church is “His body” and the very temple of God, and if we are to “grow up into Him,” then what will He have us doing in this spiritually mature state during these latter days?

Your Ways Are Not My Ways

To get to the answers to these questions, we must look at the spiritual things of God though His perspective. Because His ways are not our ways, we have to see His things through His eyes (Isa. 55: 8). But there is a “catch–22” here. We cannot look through God’s eyes while we still have our old sinful nature.

This is the reason that there are thousands of theologians, pastors, priests, and preachers who just cannot see God’s vision of perfection for us because they have not had the foundation of the first principles of the doctrine of Christ–the first two of which are “repentance from dead works (sin) and faith toward God.”

They cannot see through God’s eyes, whose vision He has elucidated in plain language in the Bible for us. They don’t get it because they have not repented from works that bring forth death in their own lives. In other words, they are still in their sins; they haven’t repented from sin in their lives. In fact, most of them teach that a person cannot be free from sin and sinning.

Repentance from Sin and Sinning a Must for Growth

And why? Because they will not believe that it is possible to be rid of sin and sinning. They don’t believe that God can do it in this life. So they continue to teach and preach that you cannot stop sinning. They teach that you can be saved and go to heaven if you believe in Jesus, but that He cannot save you from sin and sinning. They are called to maturity, but the spiritual temple that they could be cannot “grow up into Him” because of a lack of the righteous foundation that true repentance and faith provides.

This saddens me greatly in writing this, for I know that there are many sincere preachers out there who have not been taught the true doctrine of Christ. They have run with hand-me-down rags of man’s reasonings about Christ and have not been clothed with the true robe of righteousness found in His truth. It saddens me that they have been duped into thinking that whatever biblical training they have received is all there is. In reality they have been fed stale crumbs of doctrine which are unable to nourish them up into full grown men of God! And so Christ’s question to us resounds: “Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord has made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season?” (Matt. 24: 45). What will it take for us to wake up and seek the “meat” of the word?

So these preachers, some very well-meaning, have been purveyors of poisoned promises, which can never nourish the children of God into growing up into the mature spiritual temple. Fed false doctrines, the children of God cannot “grow up into Him,” personally or corporately, because they have not repented from actions that bring forth death–sin, in other words.

Spiritual death hovers over them, and they are lulled to sleep by false promises of “the sweet by and by” on “the beautiful shore” of man’s imaginations of what heaven is. And they never come to grips with the fact that the soon-coming King Jesus/Yahshua “is an austere man,” who expects to find a “glorious church without spot, wrinkle, or any such thing” (Luke 19: 21; Eph. 5: 27). Those “spots” are false teachers, false prophets, and false doctrines (Jude 12; II Peter 2: 13).

A Sad Day

And when He returns to set up His kingdom, He is going to deliver to somebody this terrifying retort: “I never knew you; depart from Me” (Matt. 7: 23). And He will be speaking in that day to people who claim to know Him well. And they will persist and say to Him in that day, But, Lord, did we not prophesy and teach in your name? Didn’t we do great things in the ministry? We built this fine sanctuary and dedicated it to You, and we planted churches and sent missionaries all over the world to help the poor. We saved many lives feeding the poor people of Africa, and we did it to glorify You!

And then Christ is going to say, Yes, but you ran with the wrong vision. I did not send you. You ran with what some natural thinking man said about Me. You believed a man who had not even died on the cross with Me, who did not have enough faith toward God to receive a new heart after the death of his old sinful heart–who did not experience being baptized into My death, much less being immersed in My Spirit and fire–who did not dig deep and build his house upon the Rock, who wiped his mouth, content he had done no wrong, and settled into his own house built on the sand of man’s traditions (Jer. 29: 9; Rom. 6: 1-6; Matt. 7: 24-27).

Oh, it will be a sad day when millions, who were called, find out that they were not chosen due to their lack of study and prayer and preparation (Matt. 22: 14; II Tim 2: 15). Had they studied to “prove all things,” then God could have shown them the deeper walk, away from the crash and crescendo of Sunday morning’s man-musings about God, and into the quiet whisper of God’s “still small voice” that leads His elect down a narrow road that few will trod, for few there be to find this way of truth (Matt. 7: 14).

I personally know preachers today who will not listen to anything “new”–anything that does not agree with their denominational line and pre-conceived concepts–that does not line up with what grandpa and grandma and mom and dad taught. They just will not “prove all things,” both things that they believe to be true, nor things they already think to be false. I do not condemned them. It just saddens me, is all. For they do not realize that much more light is being shed during these latter days–light that grandma and grandpa did not have.

Without the foundation as outlined in Hebrews 6, a Christian cannot grow spiritually, for they will never be rid of the bondage to sin. For this concept of sin that is so “incorrect” to talk about in our society today is at the heart of the matter. Christ and all His apostles and prophets spoke of sin continually. The apostle John even says that “whosoever sins has not seen Him, neither known Him” (I John 3: 6).

The whole plan has God’s Spirit coming down and taking up residence in us. But He will not dwell in an unclean temple (I Cor. 3: 16-17). So He has made a way for us to get rid of the old sinful heart at the cross, and by faith receive a new heart that can receive His Spirit. Wonderful news. But that is just the first steps on the road to immortality. There’s so much more as we learn about how we are to walk in preparation to literally become the kings and queens in God’s soon-coming kingdom to be set up shortly right here on earth.
