King David—A Man After God’s Own Heart

Oh, to have our Savior say that about us! What did David say or do to garner such a testimony from the Father? For God “gave testimony, and said, I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after mine own heart.” David was “after” God’s heart; he was in accordance with God’s desire. But most stop right there when quoting this passage. However, God continues in the next breath, “which shall fulfill all my will.”

These last six words of Acts 13:22 are revelatory. King David is a man after God’s own heart because God knew that David would fulfill all of God’s will. He would champion all of His desires. AndGod desired to have His name glorified through the destruction of Goliath.

God would use the giant as a symbol of the evil world system headed by Satan. Goliath would come on as an undefeatable foe, too big and powerful to conquer and destroy. I am talking about the current world system in which we live. They have it sowed up. The system is rigged, and it looks like they are going to win. Remember how the Israelites said that the “giants are too big” to try to conquer.

David, a Type of God’s Elect Today

Then God would use David, a “stripling,” a “ruddy” complexioned youth, to battle the giant. David loved Yahweh, and it showed. God wanted Goliath confronted and killed. No soldier in Israel’s army stepped up to fight him; they were all afraid. At this, David said, “Who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should defy the armies of the living God?” Then David said to King Saul, “Let no man’s heart fail because of him; thy servant will go and fight with this Philistine.” [Look at David’s belief in Yahweh.]

“And Saul said to David, You are not able to go against this Philistine to fight with him, for thou art but a youth and he a man of war from his youth.” [This is the unbelief of the world.]

Then David tells of his adventures in killing a lion and a bear to protect his flock of sheep. “Thy servant slew both the lion and the bear, and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be as one of them seeing he has defied the armies of the living God.” [David has had experiences of doing battles with God by His side.]

You know the rest of the story (I Sam. 17:32-54). David defends the God of Israel and says to Goliath, “You come to me with a sword and with the spear and shield, but I come to you in the name of Yahweh of host, the God of the armies of Israel whom you have defied. This day will Yahweh deliver you into my hand, and I will smite you, and take your head from you, and I will give the carcasses of the host of the Philistines this day unto the fowls of the air, unto the wild beasts of the earth; that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel. And all this assembly shall know that Yahweh saves not with sword and spear, for the battle is Yahweh’s, and he will give you into our hands.”

This miraculous defeat of Goliath by a mere youth has been discussed by people for over 3,000 years, thus fulfilling the purpose of God: “That all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel.” And this same God shall return on a white horse in magnificence and shall call to the “fowls of the air” to come to the “supper of the great God; that ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains and the flesh of mighty men…” (Rev. 19:11-18).” [Note David’s statement about giving the carcasses of the Philistine army “to the fowls of the air and to the wild beasts of the earth.” His words are a living prophecy as to what will happen to all who follow the beast system at the time of the end.

David is a type of the elect of God for these end times. Satan’s world looks too big, too corrupt, too unbeatable. But the elect sons and daughters will rise and answer their calling like David did. Only this time it won’t be with a physical sling, stone, and sword.

It will be a spiritual battle. We will put on the spiritual armor of God. “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but… against spiritual wickedness in high places” (Eph. 6:12). Our battle today is with satanic spirits who rule the masses here on earth. The time of their deliverance draws nigh. “And saviors shall come up on mount Zion to judge the mount of Esau; and the kingdom shall be the LORD’S” (Obadiah 1:21). [Christ called out and exposed the “mount of Esau” in John 8:44.]

It is our honor—you and me—to be used by Yahweh to do His will like David did. He answered the call and set the precedent for us today. David’s faith in our God Yahweh is palpably stirring. He tells the bully Goliath that he is fighting Yahweh. This is the same faith that Christ walked in, the faith of the Son of God. Study this belief in Yahweh that David walked in and spoke of. Study it good, for it holds the keys to becoming “a man after God’s own heart” (That goes for women, also, for “He called their name Adam.”). David believed that it was God’s fight and that he was the vessel that God was using. No pride. David was defending the name and honor of His God, as well as defending God’s army. He was doing the will of God.

Abraham Lincoln’s School Book–The Holy Bible

I thought of President Lincoln this morning over coffee and scriptures.  I pondered about how much the Bible played a role in shaping him, both during childhood and his final difficult years.

He was self-taught, and his primer was the Holy Bible.  It is easy to see its influence in his writings.  Practically every thing he wrote exudes the wisdom found in the scriptures of truth.  That is why his words still move us, still inspire us, still cause us to stop and shake our heads and say, “That’s the stuff of greatness.”

His words are great, for their truths are mined from the Rock of Ages.  He quotes Christ’s very own words in the “house divided against its self” speech.  He alludes to the themes of forgiveness and reconciliation and mercy—universal concepts that the Great Teacher taught.

Style and Themes

His literary style was simple, yet elegant.  His word choice often was plucked from the pool of Elizabethan English the King James translators provided, illuminating a clear path of expression.

Themes of brotherly love, unity, fairness, faithfulness, and hope that President Lincoln employed came straight from the “Good Book”—words he read from childhood, words contained between black leather covers, words inspired by God and carefully preserved for all to study and spiritually prosper thereby.  To get to the heart of Lincoln, one must go through the mind of God contained in the Bible.

Reading his speeches and letters, one’s heart soars.  Yet he himself would tell us that this phenomenon is not because of any craft or genius that he possessed, but rather because of all those lonely hours by candle and fireplace light, reading the words of the patriarchs, prophets and the apostles.

But Some Have Turned Away

But now in this modern age, many powerful and influential people in government and the media have turned away from the scriptures Lincoln read.  The same Book sits there on their shelves collecting dust, gilded pages never turned.  They have shied away from it, tossing it into the pile of other “politically incorrect” positions.  And for this, they rarely quote it, nor allude to its glorious stories of mortal man triumphing against all odds through the mercy of its God.

I dare say that if Lincoln were raised from the grave, he would shake his head in disgust at our leaders’ lack in taking “the counsel of the LORD.”  I’d like to think that he would upbraid them as Christ did the hypocrites, who paraded in their pharisaical robes, while inwardly clothed in the filthy garments of deceit and greed.  I believe that Lincoln would be heartbroken and grieved that we, the descendants of a once thankful and humble people, inhabiting the choicest lands on earth, had become “fat and had forgotten God.”

So let us not be ashamed to read and savor the same inspired words that guided President Abraham Lincoln.  If those precepts were good enough and fine enough to steer him through our nation’s roughest seas, surely we of a less noble intellect can harvest from the Bible’s fruited fields, spiritual food able to sustain us during “the perilous times”  that lie ahead–the “time of the end,” spoken of in President Lincoln’s school book, the Holy Bible.         Kenneth Wayne Hancock

Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden–The True Story

     Their cries cut through the trees of the garden.  “Help us, please!  Don’t cast us away.  Please forgive us, for we’ve sinned against you.  We are sorry.  We want it to be like it was before.  Don’t forsake us!”  Thus Adam and Eve did moan their fate after their sin and banishment by God from Eden.  Where once they walked in splendid innocence with their Creator in paradise, they had found themselves in solitary anguish, awash in tears of guilt and shame. 

     And what really had they done to bring such swift retribution by the hand that yesterday had been so kind?  Yes, they yielded to temptation and disobeyed the only commandment that God had given them, albeit through the auspices of one smooth character.  For the serpent had convinced them that they needed the knowledge of good and evil, that experiencing this knowledge was the road to real wisdom.  And so they partook and sinned.  Why was the anguish and alienation of this sin the direct fruit of their gaining knowledge?  The transformation from happy innocents to sin-guilty initiates took place because it was supposed to take place; it was in the master plan of the Creator.

Their Fall Was Not an Accident

     However, conventional wisdom teaches that the Fall in Eden was an accident, that somehow the experimenting Creator had the wrong mix of variables present and things went bad. A deadly accident occurred unforeseen by the Architect, and his prototype house fell down.  Now He would have to change His original plan in order to fix what He did not get right at the first.  That does not sound like the omnipotent and omniscient Being the ancient Hebrew writers portrayed their God to be.  In fact, the Genesis account shows a Creator with an acute and meticulous hand, setting everything in perfect order.  “And he saw that it was good…it was good…it was good.”  

     It was good at every phase of creation.  Are we to believe that a smooth talking serpent figure, made also by God (3:1), could accidentally appear in Eden to thwart the plan of the Almighty?   This is not the case of the farmer fretting about the fox in the henhouse.  This is the Creator of the fox, the hens, and the henhouse.  He knew the vulnerability of Adam and Eve because He made them that way, and He created the serpent to be a lying seductive trickster.  In effect, God had put the fox in the henhouse, for he certainly would not have been there without God’s tacit approval.  

     Furthermore, the serpent lied to Eve and enticed her to partake of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.  Some writers such as Garrison Russell in SonPlacing propose that the serpent was a man and was the tree of knowledge of good and evil.  “Trees” are types of men throughout the Hebrew literary tradition (Daniel 4 with Nebuchadnezzar as the “tree whose branches reached the heavens”).  Since when does a white oak or an ancient apple tree “know” anything?  The Hebrew prophets continually rant against idol makers who carve their gods from the dumb stump of a tree, “that can neither hear nor see.”   Also, the Savior, “who was the expressed image of the invisible God” of creation, called the Pharisees of His day, “Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers.”  
     And so they both partook and were initiated into a carefully prepared hothouse of emotions, “and the eyes of them both were opened.”  And the first thing that they “knew”—the first jewel of knowledge taken from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil was that “they knew they were naked.”  To be frank, they became aware that their genitals were exposed and opened to the world.  And the first action that they took after gaining this knowledge was that “they sewed fig leaves together” to cover the shame of their nakedness. 

       And like the picador enters right on cue for the second act of the bullfight ballet, they heard Yahweh’s voice as He called out to them in the garden (“YHWH,” the tetragrammaton, the Hebrew name of the Creator, translated “LORD” in most translations).  “Where are you?” was the rhetorical question spoken by the All-Knowing.  Adam responded,  “I was afraid, because I was naked; and hid myself.”

      Wait a minute, Adam.  “Naked” was not even in your vocabulary before all this knowledge you just gained.  “Who told thee that thou wast naked?”  God asked.  Somebody has been talking about sex to you, haven’t they?   Did he tell you about getting naked? 

       And then Adam blames the woman, and the woman blames the serpent.  Yet all this does not surprise Yahweh in the least.  For it was all in His plan and purpose for mankind to sin and to suffer that vacuum of fear, alienation, sin, and shame.  For then mankind would need someone to save them from this abyss of depravity.  They would need a Savior.

       He set them up to fall in order to save them?  The irony is rich in this mother lode of wisdom.   God’s nature is love, for “God is love.”  But He could not express the perfection of His essence unless He had something to forgive.  He would incarnate Himself later in history and provide Himself as the Lamb sacrifice for Adam’s sin.  This is alluded to in Genesis 3:15.  Speaking to the serpent, He said that He would put hatred between the serpent and his offspring and Eve and her offspring.  As almost universally accepted, Eve’s offspring is Christ, who would “bruise the head” of the serpent, thus “destroying the works of the devil.”  And yet, the serpent’s offspring would bruise the heel of the seed of the woman, indicating the death of the Lamb at the hands of the Romans and Pharisees and his subsequent resurrection. 

        Yahweh’s plan was all along to reproduce Himself.  The law of “each seed bears its own kind” attests to this.  He likens Himself to the Seed, the Word.  But in order to reproduce Himself, He would have to create a need in mankind for Him.  Innocent fleshy robots have no need of a Savior, and Yahweh is the Savior (“I, even I, am YHWH, and beside me there is no Savior,” Isaiah 43:11).

 Adam and Eve’s shameful fall into sin and despair was carefully choreographed by a loving Creator.  He set them up to Fall so that they would have a need for His forgiving love.  “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends” (John 15:13).  He would become Immanuel, “God with us,” coming “to take away the sins of the world.”  This would fulfill the Edenic promise of Genesis 3:15.  As in the parable of the creditor and the two debtors in Luke 7:41-48, the one who owed the most when the debt was forgiven, was the one who loved the most.  Hence, sin and guilt entered the equation so that forgiveness could come, yielding gratefulness and love in the heart of the forgiven.  Each seed (love and forgiveness) bears its own kind (gratefulness and love).      Kenneth Wayne Hancock

“But Deliver Us From Evil”–From the Evil Within the Heart

     Evil comes in three sizes: the personal, the inter-personal, and the national/inter-national size.

     Christ is teaching us here in the “Lord’s Prayer” to ask the Father for deliverance from all evil, beginning with the evil that lurks within the heart of natural man.

     Christ spoke sharply about the spiritual state of those who do not have the Spirit of God within them–those who were not re-generated by His Spirit. 

     He exposed the religious hypocrites who asked Him why His disciples ate with unwashed hands and not “according to the tradition of the elders.”  He told them that it’s what comes out of the man that defiles the man, not what goes into the man.  “For from within, out of the heart of men proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit…blasphemy, pride, foolishness.  All these evil things come from within, and defile the man” (Mark 7:20-23).  In a word, these sins come from within the heart of the old nature.

     The prophet Jeremiah knew of the treachery of the old Adamic heart when he wrote, “The heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked: who can know it?

     This old heart is natural man’s dirty little secret; it is what propels people into doing evil things that they don’t really want to do (See ch. 27 of my book Yah-Is-Savior: The Road to Immortality at http://www.yahwehisthesavior.com/yahch27.htm ).  The apostles call it “being a slave to sin.”

     Secular humanism, however, teaches that the human being, though flawed, inately has the answer to his own problems–already within himself.  It has made a man’s SELF his god!  It teaches that the human being is its own physician and savior. 

     But try as people may to clean up their old sinful self, eventually “the screaming blue monkey” crashes into their minds, demanding that they do what they know they shouldn’t, demanding that they take the path of darkness, a trail that leads them to guilty shadows of loneliness far from the light of the sun.  This monkey is the selfish little bastard-child ego, incessantly wanting to be worshipped by all.

     This evil presence in unregenerated human beings is not being dealt with in the vast majority of churches.  It is too raw of a confrontation.  And many lives are being destroyed “for lack of knowledge” of these things.

     It takes honesty and humility to take that old self to the cross.  This “personal evil” in one’s heart has to be crucified with Christ, or it will always flare up.  It must be recognized, renounced, hated, and crucified (in spiritual revelation).  Then buried with Him, and then raised with Christ’s Spirit now within, thereby becoming a new creature.  “He that is dead is freed from sin” (Romans 6:3-7) {See post “Love from Above–Down and Through” at https://immortalityroad.wordpress.com/2008/01/22/love-from-above-down-and-through/ }.

     The old heart and old spirit of man keeps God’s Spirit away, for He will not dwell in an “unclean temple.”  We are, after all, to be God’s temple.

     But God has provided us a way to do away with the personal evil within at the cross.  But other evils still exists.  And we are to pray to be delivered from them as well.      Kenneth Wayne Hancock

Parable of the Mustard Seed–How God’s Government Grows

     This parable reveals the secret of how the Kingdom of God grows.  It starts out as a tiny seed of faith in the hearts of His believers and then multiplies and spreads its rule to fill the whole earth.

     Two things to remember about the parables of Yahweh.  First, they reveal hidden secrets to only those who are supposed to “get it.”  Second, they are about the “good news” that God is the King of His kingdom, and it is coming to this earth with a vengeance, literally (See post  “Parables Conceal the Mysteries of God” at https://immortalityroad.wordpress.com/2008/05/04/parables-conceal-the-mysteries-of-god/ ).

     And this parable is how it grows into planetary dominance.  “The kingdom of heaven is like to a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and sowed in his field, which indeed is the least of all seeds, but when it is grown, it is the greatest among herbs, and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and lodge in the branches thereof” (Matt. 13:31-32).

     The key to understanding this parable is found in another statement by Christ about a mustard seed.  “If you have faith the size of a grain of mustard seed, you shall say to this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove” (Matt. 17:20).  Here He links “faith” to a mustard seed.  The literal seed is small, and our faith/belief is small at first, also.

   Here’s the breakdown:

  1. A man took mustard seed and sowed it into his field = Christ placed the word, the seed of faith-in-His-resurrection into our hearts which is in our earth-ly bodies.  “The field” = the world (Mt. 13:38).  So now God’s children have His faith in them and they “are in the world, but not of the world.”
  2. The mustard seed grows = our tiny little belief in Christ grows.  Our testimonies win others and help others know Him.  More people are born of His Spirit and enter His spiritual kingdom.
  3. And the mustard seed grows into a tree = The children of the kingdom of God grow into a strong entity, governed by His Spirit.
  4. And the tree filled the whole earth = Here the kingdom of God, who is a Spirit living in our hearts, will grow and grow until someday soon Christ will literally return and set up the throne of His father David in the earth.
  5. And the birds of the air shall lodge in its branches = These birds are the worldly goat nations who will not have fully accepted Christ as their King.  The prophets speak of a time during the 1000 year reign of Christ when nations who do not give honor unto the King will have their rain withheld until they learn to humble themselves in His presence.

     When Christ returns to His true followers, He will set up rule through them over the whole earth.  All the prophecies point to it.  This kingdom is the gospel proclaimed by Christ and His prophets throughout the ages.  This is the stone kingdom “not cut out with man’s hands” that shall smash all of man’s corrupt governments.

     His kingdom starts with a new spirit and new heart that He gives to those who willingly allow their old self to die with Christ (see http://www.yahwehisthesavior.com/sonsintro.htm “Our Old Nature Must Die on the Cross”). 

“The kingdom of God is within you” because His Spirit now abides in His children and governs them.  When we receive Him in our heart, the Kingdom of God comes to earth!  His Spirit in us is the “seed beginning” of His earth-wide rule and reign.

Yes, it is small now, like a grain of mustard seed.  Christ is that seed growing in us, growing into a mighty kingdom wherein dwells righteousness.   Kenneth Wayne Hancock

“Forgive Us Our Debts”–Love Is All We Owe

     We owe mankind only one thing–love.  In the “Lord’s Prayer,” Christ is teaching us that loving others is all that we should owe anyone.  As the princes and princesses of the King, we are held to that high standard.  Owe no man any thing, but to love one another (Romans 13:8).

     God the King is Love, and we His children are born of His nature, which is love (I John 4:8, 16).  Loving others, then, is how we pay our debts. 

     So when the Savior, in teaching us to pray, tells us to say, “And forgive us our debts,” He want us to mean this: Forgive us Father, for the times we didn’t love others the way You love them.  And when Christ instructs us to say, “As we forgive our debtors,” He wants us to mean this: Father, grant us a forgiving heart to all who do not love us as You love us.  He did tell us, “Forgive and it shall be forgiven you” (Luke 6:37).

     To love one another–this is one of the “new commandments” Christ gave us.  “A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another” (John 13:34).

     Loving one another is the sign that God resides in us.  “If we love one another, God dwells in us, and His love is perfected in us, because He has given us of His Spirit” (I John 4:12).  The caveat: we cannot love one another with the agape “love from above” if we do not have His Spirit within us.  Human love will only stretch so far and then it snaps ugly on somebody. 

     Love is the fruit produced from the sap (Holy Spirit) within us, the branches.  And we cannot be grafted in to the vine (Christ) until we go through the death, burial, and resurrection experience with Him {Read more on this in my book The Unveiling of the Sons of God at   http://www.yahwehisthesavior.com/sonsintro.htm }.  We must be “raised to walk in a newness of life” through faith in God’s promise to give us a new heart and a new spirit if we put to death our old sinful self on the cross with Christ (6:1-6).  When we receive His Spirit into our hearts, then the love will start flowing down and through us to others (See post, “Love From Above, Down and Through” at https://immortalityroad.wordpress.com/2008/01/22/love-from-above-down-and-through/ ).

     The “debts” spoken of in the “Lord’s Prayer” is much more than money or material things.  It is spiritual love that we owe each other.  We owe mankind a heart of love in gratitude to God for the love He showed us by providing the Sacrifice, the Lamb of God, and thereby giving us a way to escape sin and corruption.  It is now about Him channeling Himself (Love) through us on out to others. 

     These things should be in mind when we pray to our Father, “And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.”   Kenneth Wayne Hancock

The Old Serpent Deceiveth the Whole World

    The whole world is deceived, according to the Bible.   “Satan deceives the whole world” (Rev. 12:9).  Satan not only deceives individuals, but has deceived whole nations (Rev. 20:3).  Consequently, leaning on this world system in any way for guidance, truth, or sustenance is futile and dangerous. 

    So, what are we to do?  We must examine ourselves in the light of the written word to see if we are really in the true faith of God.  We must “purge out the old leaven,” getting rid of old worldly concepts and ideas that Satan has used to deceive the people and nations of the world.

    Since the world and its nations are deceived, we can look at what they support and see what is suspect and needs to be gotten rid of.  For example, look at our holidays.  The world system supports Halloween among others, and all are blatantly pagan (  www.1911encyclopedia.org/Hallowe’en ).   

    You can have Hallowe’en in schools and yet your children cannot pray there.  You cannot teach creationism or intelligent design and yet, children are encouraged to celebrate Valentine’s Day, which was a Roman fertility and purification festival held on the very same day, February 14 ( “february.” Webster’s Revised Unabridged Dictionary. MICRA, Inc. 02 Jul. 2008. <Dictionary.com http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/february> ). 

    Our government is deceived and corrupt.  It has left its first love-its Creator.  The original settlers, the Pilgrims, came here to “establish the kingdom of God nation in the earth.”  Now our government has become the servant of a cartel of rich international bankers. 

    Our Congress in 1913 created by law the Federal Reserve System.  It is not “federal” nor a reserve.  Its very name is a lie.  Nor is it “of the people, by the people, or for the people.”  “The Fed” is a private corporation with around 300 shareholders from the richest families of America.  It creates money out of nothing but wood fibers and ink.  Then it lends these created dollars. 

    Our government borrows trillions of these dollars and then it takes our hard-earned money as taxes just to pay the interest on that debt!  And who gets those billions?  The shareholders of the private corporation, the Federal Reserve Bank. 

    Because “the borrower is servant to the lender,” the U.S. government, as well as all governments, is a servant to the rich international bankers, who are running things on the world stage.  The presidents, premiers, prime ministers, congresses, and parliaments of this world are the lap dogs of these internationalists.

    And we the sheeple of this deceived world, drunk on our own self-importance, are being led down the shopping aisles, tempted to get more, buy more, and covet more material things–things that satiate our fleshly senses so that we cannot perceive what is killing us.

    The old serpent, the Devil, has definitely deceived the whole world.  The people are deceived because they don’t know what is going on.  And the nations are deceived because the leaders actually think they are going to get by with going to bed with the rich bankers.

    But a few will see through the lies and sin of this world system, and they will “come out” from it, and they will be separate.  They will be the vanguard of Yahweh’s Kingdom that’s coming soon.       Kenneth Wayne Hancock

Politicians Are the “Basest of Men” According to Bible

Political leaders are the lowest dregs of human society, according to a heavenly messenger who spoke to the prophet Daniel.  And He sets them up, and He brings them down.  God is in control of what goes on in the governments of men (Daniel 4).

This scathing indictment of political leaders comes from Daniel’s experiences in the court of Nebuchadrezzar, king of Babylon.  In Daniel’s vision this “holy one” said this: “To the intent that the living may know that the most High rules in the kingdom of men, and gives it {the governments of this world} to whomsoever  He will, and sets up over it the basest of men” (Daniel 4: 17).

So, all of us who read this passage from the Bible have to either throw it away as some pipe dream of  a mad Hebrew prophet 2600 years ago, or we must take it for what it says.

  • The Creator God is involved in the political affairs of men.
  • He is the One who really is ruling in the governments of men
  • He is the One who gives the political power to whomsoever He will
  • And God sets up the “basest of men”–those lowest on the Spiritual Scale.

If we believe this, it will forever change the way we look at politicians.  We always knew they were slippery and hypocritical and will say or do anything to get elected.

Finally, I’m reminded of that passage in Revelation about the future One World Government Leader:  “And the whole world wondered after the beast.”  This man is referred to by God as a beast (Rev. 13: 3).  I rest my case.  KWH

Parables Conceal the Mysteries of God

     Parables are not nice little stories to help us understand the Bible. We have been told this by well-meaning teachers and pastors, but it is not true.  To the contrary, parables are used by God to deliberately keep some from knowing His secrets.  Before you click away, let me elucidate.

 

     The Creator has a stupendous plan to reproduce Himself.  He has had His prophets and righteous men write about it down through the ages. But He has kept it secret by speaking about it in parables.  In order to comprehend His purpose, we must first understand His concept of the use of parables.

 

      The first thing to know is that parables contain the “mysteries of the kingdom of heaven.”  They conceal the secrets of God, hidden since the foundation of the world.      

     God is sovereign, and He will reveal Himself and His plan to whomever He desires.  “For a man can receive nothing except it be given to him from heaven.”

 

      Christ, the Anointed One, was teaching the multitudes in parables.  Then the disciples came and said to him, “Why do you speak to them in parables?” And he answered them, “To you it has been given to know the secrets of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been given.  {First, parables reveal “the secrets of the kingdom of heaven.”  And He gives this knowledge to certain ones, and some He does not give it to} This is why I speak to them in parables, because seeing they do not see, nor do they understand…but blessed are your eyes, for they see, and your ears, for they hear.” Mt. 13:10-13, 16, RSV.  

 

     Parables are His “dark sayings.” The word “dark” is translated from the Hebrew word, chiydah, #2420 in Strong’s, meaning a “puzzle: hence a trick, conundrum, sententious maxim: dark saying (sentence, speech), hard question, proverb, riddle.”  Puzzles and riddles are deliberately thought out by the speaker.  They are purposely spoken.  And so it is with His parables.  All these things spake Jesus (Yahshua) unto the multitude in parables; and without a parable spake he not unto them; that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet saying, I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter things which have been kept secret from the foundation of the world. Mt. 13:34-35, Psm. 78:2.

 

     Parables are not nice little illustrations; they are riddles and puzzles that are meant for only a few to understand and solve the mysteries of His governance in the earth.     Kenneth Wayne Hancock

The Road Through the Valley of the Shadow of Death

     Yes, we as God’s children, as His spiritual offspring, as His mortal heirs of all that He has, is, or ever shall be–yes, we are walking down a long road to get to his Celestial City.

     And it is a tough, lonely road at times, fraught with danger and temptation.  Our great poet/prophet/King David knew of the perils of this walk we are on.  “Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death…” (Psalm 23:4).  Here he places the very road we must travel directly through a valley, which is a low place where death’s shadow casts its silhouette on our every step.

     David wrote from experience, for King Saul hounded him and sought to kill him and persecuted him at every turn.  He knew that we humans were as “blades of grass,” fragile vapors strutting upon the earth, one heartbeat away from returning to dust, one fickle captain’s word from being so much cannon fodder.  For David was a “bloody man,” who saw the fruit of war lie in crimson pools in those valleys of death.  And he saw there “the dead burying the dead.”  

     And so it is with us.  We are beset by injustices and inequities in this life, and at times  we throw our hands up, and then…we should do what King David did.  In our darker hours of need, we should say to God, “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for thou art with me.”  You are with us, and You “will never leave us nor forsake us.”                                  Kenneth Wayne Hancock
